Had a lovely afternoon tea here celebrating my sister in laws birthday. Sandwiches, scones and cakes were amazing. There was so much to eat! Staff so friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit.

Was in tonight for diner as a solo traveller for work. After a long journey i only wanted a sandwich but was told by the waitress Suraya that wasn't possible.I wasn't sure why as the place wasn't busy and there were people working in the kitchen. She didn't even ask on my behalf which was poor service. 2 course menu... More

Had an excellent meal this evening with girls from work - lovely decor & staff were helpful but the noise caused by bar staff throwing bottles into recycling box was totally unacceptable - why not simply put them in & avoid an unsociable racket

Great for an informal meal out. Not for a special occasion, intimate dinner. The ambiance is somewhat basic and stark, better than a "pub meal" though. The quality of the food is a surprise, considering the furnishings. One would expect something very basic in flavour, presentation and portions. None of the above! Much as I enjoyed my main course, I... More

Don't judge a book by its cover and the restaurant inside the facade of this ordinary looking average hotel says it all. Beautifully laid out with cosy booths and individual tables it has a great ambience the minute you step through the door . Staff are so professional and friendly without being obtrusive. Food was amazing, we had the duck... More

Personally I found that dining at the Douglas Arms to be more like eating in a restaurant rather than a traditional pub. The dining area is family friendly, well decorated and clean. There is a bar area where the waiting staff prepare drinks, but where no one stands or sits to drink. There's a wide range of dishes on the... More

We had an evening meal here (family group of 6 adults, 15 year old and 4 month old). There was sufficient variety on the menu for everyone's choice, the food was good quality and the staff friendly. The piped music was a little loud for my liking (but I do like it quiet).

Ate in the pub, good budget grub. Steak and chips, about a tenner. I've had much worse steak elsewhere for a lot more. Cooked as requested, real ale on tap. Pool table 50p a go. Nothing to not recommend the place at the prices we paid..
