Malcolm and Jane provide the perfect environment for a family gathering or an intimate meal for two. The premises are COVID secure and the service is second to none. The food is of the highest quality and great value. Jane is an excellent chef. Malcolm...mans the bar and is the perfect host making you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door. I cannot recommend their establishment highly enough.More

Had a lovely lunch in the beer garden today. This is a traditional and friendly pub in a beautiful totally unspoiled location in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The food was delicious as were the drinks. The Landlord and Landlady were really...welcoming too. We'll definitely dog walk out this way again!More

Unsure wether people are getting pubs mixed uo but I am reviewing the blue ball in malton. Staying nearby we decided to visit malton to visit the 2 pubs in my heritage pub book. We loved the 18th century blue ball right up our street....Very old fashioned with lots of period features. Tiny little bar that sits in he centre of the pub. Fascinating. The landlady and locals very friendly and the Rev james real ale on form. Pubs like this are a dying breed and very hard to find please go try it outMore

We were on our way to Robin Hoods Bay with some Australian visitors and decided to pop into Malton for a light lunch as we had booked an evening meal at our destination. We went into the Blue Bell Inn and asked about food. We...were told they were serving food, then we were told its was only Sunday lunch. We saw the menu which said how much starters were and mains etc, so we thought we would all just have a starter each and a few drinks. We were told very rudely and abruptly that this wasn't possible - starters had to be followed by a mains! Needless to say we didn't stay. Such a shame that an ignorant bar person is happy to turn away business! Their loss.More

Needed an easy Saturday bar meal and pint. Wife went for seabass and I took the scampi. Doombar and landlord drinks with great deserts. Perfect food at good prices in a perfect quiet town pub. Recommended.

Lost count of how many times I have visited the Blue Bell since discovering it in 2004. Excellent food and atmosphere on Thursday night when me and my son were stopping nearby for the night on the way back from Ireland. For followers of cycling...the Tour of Britain (Stage 5) will be passing by on September 10th and the Blue Bell would be an excellent vantage point to eat, drink and enjoy the cycling.More

Staying in nearby Cumrew, this little gem of a pub has friendly staff, great choice of food both meat and vegetarian dishes cooked by the landlady. it's how a country pub should be. As Arnie said: "i'll be back!"

I first came across this pub when I stayed in the area in 2003 and I have been going back every year since. The food is home cooked and has been consistently good in all my years of going. One year there was crocodile steak...on the specials (never tried that!). Malcolm and Jane are the the perfect hosts, in what is a small, homely and welcoming village pub.More

Have been here many times, always excellent food, will ensure I get gluten free and will adapt menu's where possible. Old fashioned pub, not many left, and a good pint so my husband says. We have always enjoyed our meals, and the salads are wonderful,...with fresh fruit in too. Large portions, well worth a visit.More
