After driving around the amazing countryside for a few hours, we were starting to get hungry & came across this pub by chance. Glad we did, the owners/staff were very welcoming, the food was delicious. Didn't realise it was a B & B so have...taken information for a future stay.More

After reading some unfavourable recent reviews of the Blacksmith Arms, we weren’t holding out much hope. However, from where we were staying just 5 minute walk away, there wasn’t much in the way of choice. From the minute we stepped in we were welcomed warmly...by the staff. Seated instantly in a cosy wee restaurant part of the hotel, our drinks orders were taken and we were offered the menu, specials menu and kids menu. I asked the waiter for his recommendations from the menu and he gave up a few suggestions, one of which was the Lamb Shank Main dish. This is what I went with. My wife chose the Leeky Mac & Cheese and my son, the lasagne. The pasta dishes were both perfect and the Lamb Shank was succulent and was served with the most amazing Gravy. With a varied choice of beer on tap available, I decided on my favourite, Moretti which was perfect. And my wife was served a nice cold, crisp glass of her favourite Pinot Grigio. I would like to thank the staff for the perfect, friendly and welcoming service and can’t recommend this little place highly enough.More

We visited this pub on recommendation and had a really good meal and some very nice local beer. It was a cold February evening and the fire was lit. A great way to finish a day’s hiking on Hadrians wall.

Had a lovely night here in clean, cosy surroundings. Bed was super comfy and the room well supplied with tea and coffee, a tv, and access to WiFi. Shower was roomy and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast is included in the price and...was excellent. Food in the pub itself was also very tasty and beautifully presented. We found the staff very friendly and welcoming. Every time I've been there I've always enjoyed my meal and the staff are lovely and the atmosphere is always peaceful.
