The food in this place was lovely, I had the burger which i would recommend completely and my friend enjoyed a steak with the red wine sauce which in his words was "one of the best steaks hes ever had". Honestly the food was amazing,...compliments to the chef indeed! On a side note the service was rather slow considering it wasn't very busy when we arrived. We booked a table in advance ( being a Saturday) and was asked to come in for 7pm as they had a large table reservation, not a problem! However they large group arrived at 7:30pm ( Naturally not something the restaurant could predict, understandable) However the whole party received their Starters (after arriving and ordering after us) before we received our mains. The food was worth the wait, that I cannot complain about however what described above put us off ordering deserts in the end. I honestly cannot compliment the food enough, was just a little disappointed with the order of service. With all that said, do drop in to Bistro 34 if you are not in a rush, it really is worth it for the food!More

Thank you for your valued review. Unfortunately, the large party arrived half an hour early which threw timings out and it was a bad judgement call on my part to serve their pre order first. I can only apologise for my mistake and hope this...More

We enjoyed a beautiful cooked meal with friends at Bistro 34 last night. This place is a little gem. The Christmas menu was available, three out of four of us chose from it. Everything we had was excellent including the lovely bottle of NZ wine....This was a great spot for catch up with friends. We would all recommend, we left very happy customersMore

We came here for dinner with my partner's sister and her fiance- and it was an unexpected treat! We weren't expecting such a good experience in a fairly rural area. The menu was exceptionally priced for the quality of food we had that evening. I...especially loved my beetroot starter, and my fellow diners loved their starters as well- the creamy mushrooms got several impressed comments and noises! I am still craving another bite of the duck I ate for my main- it was perfectly flavoured and delightfully tender. The other mains we had (poulet breton, risotto and sirloin steak) were also perfectly cooked. There was not much talking at this point as everyone was too busy eating! The desserts were also yummy, and I enjoyed the lemon posset. It's a shame they aren't busier, as if I lived nearer i'd be there every fortnight!More

Ate here after walking the wall for the day, food was lovely and the wine is not expensive !! I had the sea bass which was perfectly cooked (although too many potatoes for me, I don't eat loads, so I left a lot of them)

Better more than not enough, although saying that, people can ask for more. I'm glad you enjoyed your evening and you hopefully didn't get too wet on your walk. Thanks again.

We had a just dreadful meal here tonight. I have never felt compelled to write a review before for a restaurant, but everything about tonight’s meal was disappointing. The welcome was poor, the service unattentive - but the main thing was the food which was...inedible. I made a bad choice - duck. It was inedible. Leathery and tasteless. The vegetables were cold. Just dreadful. I can’t remember eating out and having such a poor meal. Don’t risk it! We will certainly not be going back.More

My wife and I are walking Hadrian’s Wall and staying in Brampton. Bistro 34 was a wonderful restaurant and we had the best meal so fall in England. Everything was outstanding. The vegetable soup was very tasty and the scallops appetizer was remarkable. Lots of...vegetables with each entry. The duck and pork were very well prepared and presented The brownie dessert was a great ending to our meal. Even though we are hiking to Carlisle tomorrow we would consider returning here to dinner it was that good!More

We were travelling from Northumbria back to the South Lakes and looked for a place for dinner in Brampton, read the reviews and went to Bistro 34. Friendly service and excellent, tasty food. Just surprised it wasn't full. Thanks Gillian

Gillian's restaurant deserves more customers! We had a good meal here last year and returned when we were in the area. As last year, there were not many customers on a Monday night - but that's not Gillian's fault! Good Menu, freshly-cooked food (worth the...wait - if you want fast-food, get a big-Mac). Interesting Service. Had the best steak I'd eaten in the previous two weeks in the Eden Valley/Moray Firth. I believe some regulars come for the steak - I can see why. The Mille-Feuille was REALLY outstanding, pastry by Gillian - best I've ever had. I can't say this is one of the "best meals ever eaten" because we have the misfortune to live in London with access to some outstanding places, all of which would be more expensive. We'll certainly return for another helping when in the area.More

cannot recommend this Bistro enough. We came on Wednesday and loved the food and atmosphere so much we went back the following night. The food is lovingly and skilfully prepared and cooked. Wide choice of food too. It really is top quality dining at such...a good price. It’s lovely to dine at a place where you leave with a smile of true appreciation and culinary satisfaction. Well done Bistro 34.More

Hi. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, I had to close the bistro. However, I am doing a takeaway service and you will find the current menu on my website, Bistro34.
