Large area so easy to social distance with tables set out spaciously. Nice and clean with pleasant staff providing a good service. Limited food menu at the time we visited but it was good food, tasty and value for money. There was a nice atmosphere,...we would definitely visit again.More

We had booked prior to arriving, for a Sunday lunch before going to a Spa. Having been here before,I had rated the food to my mother as good. However, today that was not the case at all,my mother ordered the Roast Beef and I ordered Chicken...pie. When the food arrived the almost not existent vegetables were mushy, consisting of 2 slices of carrot, 1 piece of broccoli and cauliflower. When my mum tried to cut into the potatoes, she was unable to cut through the potatoes, the skins were very hard layer (not crispy) and leathery. My pie collapsed as it was so soft and clearly had been microwaved. We raised our concerns and were given the opportunity to change the meals,I opted for the pie but to be baked rather than microwaved and my mother chose Speghetti bolognese. Once again when the food arrived it was very much below par for my mother,it was not speghetti but tagliatelle and a mass of mince stirred in, this did not resemble a bolognese at all and it was luke warm. My pie was better but by this time we had lost our appetite and once again raised our concerns we were encouraged to complain by the restaurant staff. We were also told that the regular chef was not in today. Whilst we could have understood if this chef was untrained with the delivery of this food, however the person was the Chef for the whole restaurant! We were not offered any money back, just a free coffee and we decided to decline the offer and by which time we just wanted to leave. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.More

Missing food on-site that is shown on menu on website; for example, children’s chicken nuggets are shown as available on their website but they don’t sell them, only chicken goujons. A lot of meals were ‘out of stock’, both mains and puddings. Food that was...available was merely average. Unlike what the website states, the pie of the day and soup of the day were not written on the board so we had to ask. Can only really speak highly of the blonde waitress.More

Stopped off here for a sandwich and jacket potato both of which were nicely presented with generous fillings. I had a prawn sandwich and if I am honest the bread was a bit soggy underneath as though the plate was wet and the prawn sauce...was not particularly flavoursome. The service was excellent and the place warm and friendly if a little dark on the inside. We sat at a window seat to watch the world go by. There was a reasonable selection of food and drink.More

No frills, welcoming pub. Good wine and generally good food although desserts are a bit hit and miss. Staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. Decor is a bit dated but it’s a nice place to go and is not trying to be anything other than...a decent pub.More

Had a couple of glasses of wine with a friend. House wine Sauvignon was quite pleasant Sat out the front with the dog watching people go by. There is a small beer garden out the back with lots of benches. Toilets were decent. Quite a...few people eating. As we were having a drink one of the bar staff bought out a bowl and a carafe of water for my doggie and this was gratefully received. Not a bad pub but it was the only one near by.More

Have visited this pub for years. Visited with my family for lunch on Sunday for the first time in months. Good food and healthy portions for my two children but can’t help but feel that the pub has really lost its way over the last...few years. There is an array of incongruous art all over the walls and the lighting continues to be incredibly gloomy. Overall it is lacking in thought, any atmosphere or charm and is such a missed opportunity for Connaught Avenue. It needs a complete overhaul to be a success, which it could so easily be.More

If you need a cool lager or a thirst quenching pint on a hot summers day in a classic English seaside resort, then this pub does the job. If you want food, it has that, your usual pub classics that cater for young and old....There is a small area to sit outside the front and watch the world go by as well as a beer garden to the rear (didn't see this but we know it is there as customers went out that way). Staff were friendly during our visit and, all in all, it does the job.More

Visited this pub- paid by card then asked for a receipt. We were told we couldn’t have one by a young lad then one was magically produced. When we checked we had been charged £28 for a small bottle of Prosecco. We were refunded £21....Glad we asked for a receipt and checked otherwise would have been very expensive glass of Prosecco. Staff all seemed very young and inexperienced. Not a pleasant experience wouldn’t go back. Even without the overcharging still expensive.More
