Had a lovely lunch here. Came for afternoon tea (at about 2pm!) but there were no scones at all which was disappointing for a tea room, especially on a Monday, but these things happen. I had an egg and cress sandwich and the bread was so lovely we bought a loaf to take home. If we weren't visitors we'd go... More

You can't go to Yorkshire without visiting Bothams, either Pickering or Whitby. Savoury afternoon tea is a must. Like stepping back in time being "spoilt". Another must is savouring Yorkshire Brack and the biscuits are heaven. That good I've just bought 8 packets to take home. Very reasonable pricing.

We found this tea room tucked around the corner from the market place near the station. It has a good selection of teas cakes sandwiches etc. We enjoyed a very nice Whitby Crab sandwich served with a side salad. Assam tea very good. just what we needed.

A lovely little cafe hidden opposite the Railway Station. We were well looked after and the sarnies and cakes fresh and delicious. We were given fresh pot of tea after a while and the young waitresses are very attentive. Lovely atmosphere. Our party ranged from 70 to 8 months.

I have had a cup of tea(or coffee) in many tea rooms and cafes over the years, but it is a very long time since I was served by a waitress in black, with a little white cap and a frilly apron. Very old fashioned, but very welcome, the service was not the quickest, but attentive. After a short wait... More

I discovered this when visiting Pickering station for the trains (its right opposite) so now I don't bother going anywhere else on a shopping visit to the town. Mid range coffee and snack prices with good quality and adequate service. Especially friendly service. Try the baked-bean, cheese and onion toastie - never seen that anywhere else. On-street parking across the... More

I was last in Whitby 10 years ago and can recall having a lovely lunch here. However, on this occasion the service and menu choices were great, but the food didn't quite hit the mark. I ordered the fishcakes, which were beautifully presented with salad & coleslaw....but didn't taste of any fish!!!! I hope it was a one off.

Had a lovely lunch here today. Soup and chunks of bread and butter for me husband had a toastie with brie and onion marmalade. Very hearty and tasty on a cold snowy day. Cakes looked lovely but after a good meal no room so took them as a take out. Wonderful old fashioned establishment. Lovely staff. Courteous and friendly. Definitely... More

Having seen a steam train arrive and leave Pickering station we decided to have lunch. It was pretty busy, the staff were welcoming and our order was taken and delivered. I had a Ploughmans granary bap, which had grated cheese, some ham and piclike with coleslaw and a side salad. The others had chicken and cranberry sandwich and a ham and... More
