My husband and I had a meal here in September and it was nothing to boast about. The Dover Sole I had came with about 3 asparagus spears and a few capers on top - nothing appetising about it for the price. It was a Friday evening just after 7 pm and apart from us there was only 2 other... More

We had family over from home and wanted to take them out for dinner as a treat and for Fathers Day - the Steak had an oily greasy taste! Unfortunately we had all ordered steak and none of us enjoyed our meal! Wont be visiting again!

Quite a while since I ate here. Got a table at short notice. On arrival the waiter needed to move the table. We expressed our wish and were ignored. The wine waiter, despite having taken the order, presented the bottle to my dining companion. We quickly realised we were seated next to a birthday group, who were very very noisy.... More

Lunch for two - carpaccio of beef and smoked salmon/prawn starters were delicious, grilled cod and a beef/garlic/chill stir fry equally so. Both starters added a small premium on the lunch menu of £16 per head for 2 courses so the total, with drinks, was £48 but worth it in every way, very friendly and efficient staff who know when... We dined here as part of a large group for a friends birthday. Service was attentive but not intrusive, food was excellent as was the wine. Lovely ambience. Couldn't fault it.

This a a lovely fine dining restaurant on the island. Came over from London for the New Year and stayed in Douglas. Bit worried when making calls to book a meal for NYE, but Portofino were accommodating and fitted myself, my wife and a friend in, just after 9. All courses were terrific, with the mains being exceptional. My pork... More

This is a great fine dining restaurant on the island. When looking for a nice restaurant (in Douglas) we always find ourselves choosing between the select few and if you are not in the mood for seafood this will be in the top three.

Took my wife there for lunch, starters and main course looked OK, but wasn't impressed with the actual food.........but what certainly didn't impress me was the waiters attitude..a smile at least would have been something !!!....not friendly at all..atmosphere zero.......certainly won't be going back, will stick to the other restaurants around the harbour, where you get a welcome smile, friendly... This has to be the "Rolls Royce" of restaurants on the Isle of Man. If there is a better one I'd love to go there. I would recommend booking at peak times, but it will be well worth it. Well appointed near the marina, this is a stylish, modern restaurant with an extensive menu and wine list. The service was... More

Tried and enjoyed many Restaurants in many places but our visit to Portofino has to rank as one of the best. The Menu Choice is varied and any ' Specials ' are explained fully. The ambience of the place is welcoming and staff very attentive to your needs without being pushy or trying to rush you in any way. After... More

Portofino was opened at 18:15 on the 19th November 2010, as the Island's most prestigious Mediterranean and International restaurant. Dominating the Quay West development, centrally located in the Isle of Man's capital Douglas, Portofino enjoys spectacular views overlooking the marina, with activity of the street outside, visible through floor to ceiling windows. The grill, fish, poultry, meat and vegetables are prepared in full view of diners at the surrounding kitchen. During summer, outside tables are available for dinning. Portafino's interior was designed by Sicilian owner Mario Ciapelli. Its interior is complemented by high-back leather chairs, a modern cocktail serving bar and contemporary lighting throughout to provide a luxury and modern yet comfortable enviroment for diners. The restaurant also provides diners with the option to book the Xander Suite, a private dining room which can accommodate up to 30 guests.
