30 of us arrived on the eve of my son's wedding without prior booking. The staff coped very well in the circumstances and served us all with meals in no time. Well done! ask your boss for a raise

Drinks ridiculously expensive and poor attitude from staff. Been to 2 pubs before and 1 since and all much better.

Last minute booking of nine members of the family including two from Cornwall and a little girl of eight and granny of 80. Everyone was treated very well, elderly and young accommmodated, great service, very helpful. Food was good with plenty of choice for three courses and we didn't break the bank. Will certainly go again

Dropped in for lunch on the way back from Bradford. Possibly the worst steak I have ever tasted, the other main was fish and chips equally as bad. Two drinks and a bill for £36, never again.

We drank here before our curry next door at Spice4u. The tables were all set up with knives and forks but we were warmly welcomed to sit down for a drink. The pub was well decorated and it had a welcoming atmosphere. Perfect for drinks before our meal.

We ate at this restaurant on the 5th April, we all agreed it was the worst meal we had ever had anywhere. Eventually a waitress appeared to take our order, but we waited a long time for our meal and there were only four other diners. The meal was terrible, the plates were cold, the food lukewarm and the vegetables... More

We decided to avoid the A1 services and drive through Wetherby This pub is on the main road and has a small car park Very welcoming staff and excellent beer. The pork and black pudding sandwich is a huge portion and superb . Their soup of the day was tomato and red pepper which was also great Well worth seeking... More

My wife an I ate here in late Jan at lunchtime, the food was ok, the service was good, and the surroundings were nice and there were quite a few other people eating there which is always a good sign. If you want to eat in a pub in Wetherby at lunchtime this one is probably the best and has... More

Four of us had an evening meal. Lovely starter of pulled pork bhajis Followed by steak and ale pie which we all thought was delicious. The fruit crumble though was not crumble. It was granola! Awful. What a shame. The staff were lovely and the New Zealand wine nice although expensive at £26.

Description
A pub for more than 400 years, The Swan and Talbot in Wetherby was once a posting inn on the Great North Road. Originally named the Dog and Swan, the pub was, until 1611, allowed to bear the coat of arms of the Swann family who lived at Askham Manor in nearby Askham Richard. The 'dog' was a talbot hound - an extinct type of hunting dog whose closest modern day descendant is the beagle - and the pub's name was changed to The Swan and Talbot. The pub and letting accommodation has recently seen extensive refurbishment and is proving to be a popular haunt for many of Wetherby's locals and destination diners. Inside, the pub has low ceilings befitting the age of the place, and at one end, a huge fireplace over which hangs a brief history of how it acquired its name.
