Stopped here for breakfast on our way up to Newcastle. Waitress was extremely friendly and chatty. Was travelling with my grandparents who are quite fussy and our order was rather complex, she made light of the situation and we all had a good giggle. The food was fresh and delicious and very good value for money. Would 100% recommend to... More

Upon pre-booking prior to arrival we were greeted at the door by a happy & joyful member of staff. Shown to our table by an open fireplace we perused the menu and placed our order. An excellent range of hot drinks including many different strength coffees and various teas are available. Drinks promptly arrived closely followed by wonderfully cooked buttered... More

Called in for a tea when passing through. Elegant cafe with friendly and quick service. Good pot of tea, scone and toasted tea cake. Tea cake came open with butter in separate dish; would have preferred tea cake buttered while hot, but a minor quibble.

The cafe is very smart but full of interesting bits and bobs which gives it a friendly feel. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is delicious , particularly the salads which have interesting ingredients. There is also a gift shop on the first floor. Recommended

Barnard Castle is full of interesting shops, and right in the middle of them is Clarendon's. Had the Stilton and broccoli soup which came with bread and croutons. Very tasty, and highly recommended. Cheerful and efficient staff, too!

Always a lovely visit. Foods lovely, great atmosphere, polite staff, just a shame the prices aren't that bit cheaper. But the foods worth it though! I always love the chicken and bacon club sandwich.

It was a very rainy day when we ate at Clarendon's which added to the charm. The food was excellent; fresh and tasty. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. There is a charming gift store in restaurant as well.

We visited clarendons for afternoon tea and had a fantastic time. The Restaurent is nicely decorated and the food we got was great. We where charged for extra tea and coffee which I didn't think was great and I do think the savoury element of the afternoon tea was too small compared to the sweet element which was maybe this...
