We had previously visited this restaurant under the ‘Café Merlot’ banner, and had never been disappointed. However when we heard that it had opened under a new regime we were a little apprehensive, especially given the added handicap of trying to manage a new venture while coming out of lockdown. All I can say is, our concerns were totally unfounded. This latest incarnation includes not just a change of name and decor, but a welcome improvement in the quality of both the manner and the matter of our evening. We arrived twenty minutes ahead of our scheduled booking time, and would not have felt it unreasonable to be asked to wait. Instead we were shown straight to a table, and offered drinks and fresh bread while the kitchen dealt with previous orders. Without going into detail, I can thoroughly recommend the Whiskey Sour from the cocktail menu! There is a choice of fixed price or à la carte menu, with a good range of options. My monkfish was beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection, as was my wife’s fillet steak. The desserts were of an equally high standard, and the wine range also demonstrated good value for money without any sacrifice of quality. Our host has an obvious passion and depth of knowledge for his chosen vocation, and he was well supported by friendly and efficient staff. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable evening, which we cannot wait to repeat the next time we return to Fermanagh.

It had been 18 months since we returned to play golf at Lough Erne and dined out in this wonderful restaurant ( originally known as 28 Darling Street). They have moved to the new location of 28 at the hollow. I had thankfully booked a table for 3 well in advance (given its great reputation) and i'm glad I did as the place was busy on arrival. We were meet with a smile and on checking our reservation the young waitress kindly showed us to our table .All 3 of us were impressed with the new restaurant and the ambiance of it so we were really looking forward to a great night and we weren't disappointed The starters ( 2 had scallops and the other had the goats cheese salad ) were well presented. The Scallops with black pudding with apple was delicious and the Heirloom Tomato & Goats Cheese whilst tasty was lacking enough goats cheese for his liking but he did enjoy it Mains. All 3 of us had the beef fillets ( 2 medium , well done ) and I can honestly say it was one of the best beef fillet dishes I have had in a very long time and that was the same of the other 2 guys. It was excellent and accompanied by some nice and tasty side dishes. 5 stars Dessert! 2 cheese boards were ordered and a desert of Lemon & Lime Posset The cheese boards were excellent value for money as well as delicious and could not be faulted. The desert was also excellent and was woofed done in no time by our desert loving conisior who had a big smile on his face. It was easy to see he enjoyed it Over all the service and food could not be faulted along with great atmosphere that night. Zara and the whole team make your evening very enjoyable / relaxing and you leave the restaurant knowing your had a great experience. Well done Everyone. Looking forward to going back again in the near future

Enjoyed the tasting menu last Friday. Busy restaurant, great atmosphere. Lovely warm welcome with friendly and well informed service. Zara offered super guidance on the choice of wine, the food was truly delicious, well presented and creative. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and will look forward to returning soon.

This restaurant is an absolute gem. Extensive and reasonably priced wine list but then there is the food. We had a beautiful lunch with a beautiful risotto for starters which had a perfect texture and beautiful taste. Our mains consisted of Rib eye steak and a lovely hake both cooked and presented beautifully with all the trimmings you would expect for this high class establishment. Our desert was amazing chocolate tart which was the best I have ever tasted and made on the premises. The wine was a beautiful New Zealand Sav blanc called PASK with was reasonably priced considering its quality. This was recommended by the excellent staff who were very knowledgeable and informative and attentive without being intrusive. If you even get a chance to visit Enniskillen l would highly recommend a visit but remember to book in advance.

Absolutely loved our meal last night at 28 Darling Street. The food was delicious and beautifully presented with so much detail and thought in it. We really enjoyed the interaction with the waiters, who were knowledgeable about the food, very attentive and genuinely interested in making the meal an enjoyable experience. 5 stars and highly recommended!

Our group had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we are looking forward to our next visit. Staff are very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about menu choices. The Dinner menu was keenly priced with a good variety of options. Our party of 5 availed of different starters, mains and desserts, all of which were exceptional quality and taste and beautifully presented.

You should book as it’s popular. We have been eating at this location for years so hoping the recent name change didn’t disappoint. A meal for 2 was great value as we booked late and got a 6-15 early bird table. My starter of crispy egg with asparagus was perfect. Fish main with 3 sides to share made for a good proportioned quality meal. Loved my lemon posset dessert and got to share a chocolate tart both really enjoyed. 2 glasses of wine and excellent coffee finished of a lovely holiday meal. Staff were friendly and very approachable professional in all aspects of hospitality Thanks for a great meal hope to return without having to drive an hour to get there but it was worth it ❤️

Heard some good reports about 28, decided to visit for a birthday lunch. Being very honest it was a bit curates eggish.... Good in parts. Service was very good and attentive. Would have preferred linen napkins, as they add to the dining experience. Starters of red mullet and chicken ravioli were excellent. Mains of duckling and hake excellent too. Unfortunately my steak was well done instead of medium, not acceptable in a serious restaurant. Followed up by the mousse which lacked a firmer texture and the popcorn topping merely detracted. All in all just about very good.

We were on a self catering holiday in Co Fermanagh in July 2020 and after reading the great reviews of 28 Darling Street I emailed regarding the Sunday collection service they provided at that time. Zara was so helpful. We collected and enjoyed the most wonderful 3 course meal - food was so tasty, every course so enjoyable a real highlight of our trip. We will definitely eat in the restaurant when we are next in Enniskillen. Thank you Zara and Glen - your restaurant is really top class.

Four of us had dinner here. We arrived earlier than our friends but that wasn’t a problem and we were given seats and offered drinks while our table was cleaned. The food was superb - I had the scallops followed by monkfish and it was all cooked to perfection and tasting wonderful. The serving staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were able to answer our questions. We all enjoyed our choices. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried and we had a lovely evening. Highly recommended for people who appreciate good quality, a range of flavours and lovely presented dishes.

I starter, 2 mains, 2 desserts, a glass of wine and a pint of larger £105.00. Expensive for what it was and I've see bigger fillet steaks in Lidl. Your steak sauces are watery and not made from beef stock. I'm not sure what is notable about 1 dry hard leek with a blob of cauliflower puree either but it was supposedly the feature of my plate. The chicken with linguini wasn't great either tbh. Linguini is traditionally served with seafood, not chicken, and then chips with it. Just underwhelming for me I'm afraid and not worth it at that price point which is Deanes territory.

Looking forward to fine dining we had enjoyed in 28 darling street we had some expectations in 28 at the holllow and nothing less. Having had fantastic dinner experiences in the past 2 months in Killybegs, Dublin and Germany I was sure this would continue BUT I could not be more wrong. A relatively small menu you would expect everything to be perfect. To point out our positives first tonight: friendly atttentive staff, after that i cannot say anything positive other than that the atmosphere was pleasant and improved compared to its old location. The starters were bland and presentation was boring, no intuition or finesse, the scallops were rubbery and luke-warm, This theme continued with the main meals, monkfish was ok but a strange combination of lack of flavours and my wife had the hake which tasted awful and .... Hopes had faded by now for any desserts comforting out tastebuds and this was confirmed: i had something called posset with some elderflower strawberries on top, unbearably sweet and probably the worst of the 3 course i had to endure rather than to enjoy! it was actually nauseating my wife's chocolate mousse with some mango and ice cream on the side: it was ok is the best you could say about this one but no love lost and also too sweet and too much for one person. I paid and apologized to the waitress that i will be very frank and honest with her now knowing that it was beyond her influence : we were more than disappointed of having had such a poor dinner experience at well over 100 £, we will not be back.

Wow just wow... I never ever write reviews and I had to create a tripadviser account to write this.. From start to finish flawless..myself and my husband visited 28 darling on Saturday 11th July with our our 2 friends from enniskillen who had booked it as a surprise we were staying in enniskillen on our friends boat.. I have eaten in numerous fine dining restaurants around Ireland and the uk and this was up there with the best.. for a start I had the ravioli it was served with leeks and the lightest Airiest sauce I have ever had and the flavour wow.. my husband had the risotto I usually hate ordering risotto because it is usually a bland stodgy!!mess not here not in 28 darling street It was the creamiest most flavoursome you could ask for! My friends had the soup and scallop both delicious also.. for main I had the monkfish with little bits and bobs Asparagus and I think courgette.. which were all again cooked to perfection my hubby had the steak obviously!!! Again cooked to perfection.. i tasted my friends duck leg with the smoked duck and fondants again amazing and the veg was just THE BEST I want to no how the genius makes such a boring ingredient taste so good.. we had the panna cotta and chocolate tart for dessert and the panna cotta was out off this world.. I most certainly will be back to this fabulous restaurant the next time I am in enniskillen just please take off the mask. Thank you for a memorable night.

What a place! From the outside it looks tiny but when you get inside the restaurant is open and elegantly designed. The front of house team were exceptional and didn’t let their face masks hinder their service in anyway. Plenty of nice hand sanitiser, no gloopy gluey one here! (I use boatyard too! 😉) and the little packet of alcohol hand wipes at the table was a nice touch. The food was everything I expected and so much more. Exquisitely cooked, perfectly presented and that smoked duck breast on the confit duck leg dish...yum! It was definitely the hidden star of the show, I could have eaten a whole plate of it! To top of the meal a lovely anniversary surprise, and it was a surprise as I hadn’t told the restaurant it was our anniversary, sneaky Zara! 🥰 It’s definitely a place to add to your ‘where to eat out bucket list for Northern Ireland’ and we will definitely be back when we get another night without the kids! Congratulations Glen & Zara
