Starting with the positive ... the food was excellent; maybe somewhat overpriced (in my opinion), and the desserts were definitely overpriced. Sadly, a lot of the menu was unavailable - the restaurant was full, and there was a definite air of disappointment when unable to order what you wanted. We arrived for our early evening booking, but had to wait... More

Arrived tonight (Thursday) at 7:20. Maybe two other couples in restaurant but already out of calamari starter as well as mussels and crab. So obviously not available as mains either though on the menu. Ordered the cod and porcetta as mains. The cod was a nice portion with tasty sauce but boiled baby potatoes were hard. So many undercooked leeks... More

We decided to have a Sunday roast at the Globe, due to reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and i am so glad we did. The place was empty and we thought we may have had the wrong place. But my word, the food was top notch. The beef was slow cooked and the portion was massive. Added to this... More

An excellent meal, on opening the door to the restaurant we we treated with the most delightful aromas. Our meal of twice faked cheese soufflé and dressed crab on crumpet followed by crab linguine and seafood meddle was excellent flavours and presentation were lovely. We will certainly be visiting again.

Had lunch here with my Sister last month. The food was not only fresh and beautifully cooked, it was of an outstanding quality. Wonderful atmosphere, the staff were extremely friendly, attentive and polite. It is nice to have a restaurant on our door step that serves such fantastic food! We will be going back very soon, if you are in... More

On a cold wet afternoon at the end of March we wandered in for lunch - 8 adults plus a toddler. There was not a problem. The wonderful lady greeted us and pushed tables together, organised the highchair and made us all feel warm and welcome within minutes. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was DELICIOUS! We are... More

We enjoyed a traditional Sunday Lunch of roast beef with all the trimmings, preceded by a seafood starter with oatmeal mackerel - all good. Our Parisian friends just about understood the whole Cakey Tea story and we tried to find the French for it - Gateau et The just doesn't quite work. The nut roast, according to my other half,... We hadn't booked, but we were greeted warmly and found a table. The waitress was helpful and friendly. The food was good but not spectacular.

Description
Originally a Posting House where people could 'hire' horses and get 'victuals', The Globe has been in Fowey for around 400 years. It has had many guises over the years but has always been a place of hospitality. Since taking over the building in March this year, it has been our philosophy to produce fantastic food using the very best ingredients Cornwall has to offer along with the warmest Cornish hospitality.

Our Head Chef, Glynn Wellington, is Fowey born and bred, and proud to be Cornish and utilise the wonderful produce on our doorsteps. You may see him collecting the bread from Quay Bakery, just 50 yards away from the restaurant, or picking wild garlic in the fields around Fowey. Our meat comes from Kittows of Kilhallon just 3 miles away, and our mussels from beds about a mile away by sea. Our coffee is hand roasted here in Cornwall and our beers are all brewed in St Austell. Even our bubbly is Cornish from the award winning Camel Valley, near Bodmin.

Over the coming months we will be restoring the letting rooms upstairs to their former glory and then be able to offer the finest Cornish food, drink and hospitality, right here in the heart of Fowey.
