We had a business dinner here one night. We were well looked after by the staff. The food was very good and there was a good choice of courses. The view across the water is loverly too.

This highly rated restaurant was disappointing. The ambiance is pleasant in a low-key way and the staff friendly and helpful, but the food was mediocre - not worth the high-end prices. This was one of several restaurants we had read about featuring "New Scottish" cuisine...More

Me & my Dad ate here on 20th September, I wanted somewhere more "upmarket" shall we say as it was a belated birthday present. Looking at reviews it seemed to be the place to eat on the Orkney's and after visiting I can say it...More

Our dinner at the Foveran was an exceptional dining experience. The outstanding service began with pre-dinner cocktails in the lounge and was consistent through our whole meal. The food was delicious with generous portions. (If you are on vacation and want to avoid leftovers, consider...More

Enjoyed a very pleasant dinner here; like many of the restaurants in the Orkney islands, it prides itself on using the excellent local produce. We went for the lamb, and whilst a decent-sized serving, at £23 per plate, it was the most expensive element of...More

It's a short menu but I had a very good hot smoked salmon salad starter and halibut special for main which was excellent. And the veg and tatties were bang on too. Well trained and attentive service. There's the merest whiff of motorway service station...More

The Foveran, both a hotel and restaurant, is obviously focused around its F&B operation. Interesting menu of cheeses, seafood, and heavier fare, great views perched above the Scapa Flow, food presented well and served by a corps of young women in black. Breakfast for hotel...More

If a weekend night preferred, probably a week/2 weeks in advance especially during the summer months. For a evening during the week, a few days in advance.

Description
At the Foveran, you can enjoy the finest Orkney produce in a relaxed and comfortable setting with stunning views across historic Scapa Flow. Superb seafood features strongly on our menu along with prime beef and lamb. We work closely with local livestock farmers, fishermen and growers to select the best seasonal produce for our larder ensuring we obtain the highest quality. We strive to create dishes from the freshest, local ingredients. Our philosophy is about using the elements of Orkney's natural environment to produce dishes which are tasty and memorable. We also offer a wide range of carefully selected wines, liqueurs, local craft beers, gins and malts. These can be enjoyed at your table, or in the more relaxed setting of the lounge. We're really proud to have been four times winner of the Orkney Food and Drink 'best evening meal' Award Winner of Best use of Orkney Food and Drink products 2016 Award and the first 'Orkney Masterchef 2014 title.
