Really good sunday lunch, all seemed well prepared and efficient friendly service. Would be five star but the chocolate sauce for the pudding was just too dilute for purpose of dipping, could have done with some more fruit such as bananas and the dough balls...More

Good beer, great pizza, excellent staff. Only issue is that the queue at the bar can be a little long at times, but this doesn't seem to put people off!!

Not been in for a while, used to enjoy popping in for a drink so was surprised how tired, dirty and shabby the place is now looking. Visited last Saturday, the bar was quiet at 5pm but we still had to wait a while to...More

We went here this evening having come to oakham for a weekend away. It's like a tardis inside: rooms everywhere, tucked away, outside. We only came for a drink but we were struck by the £24 roast chicken dinner for 2... I am still stunned...More

Lovely pub with a great choice of real ales, and a good choice of food from the menu. Most of the ingredients are locally sourced.

Kenneth I think that comment ‘would not appeal to most people’ is an astonishing statement. We serve up to 1000 meals a week successfully and as you can see from our previous reviews the majority are excellent. It’s not cheap but it’s great value for...More

Good drive know selection, looks Like good food menu but didn't try. Super busy on a Friday night, no seat except outside in a bit of light rain. Food smelt good.

Came here for a Sunday roast whilst on holiday in the area. Absolutely relish, lots of it, perfectly cooked and plenty of lovely vegetables. Staff were friendly, polite and very helpful.

Such a shame. The place is looking tired and grubby. Came for lunch having not visited since earlier in the year. Friendly staff, good beer and the food was reasonaby tasty, but the tables were stained and dirty and the whole place looks like it...More

The entrance is accessible, you can get to the garden from the rear of the building as I'm sure the door that leads outside us not quite wide enough. And the toilets, as far as I know are all upstairs. However, they may have... More

Description
The Lord Nelson is a beautiful pub tucked away in the heart of Oakham. As just one of two towns in Rutland, Oakham itself is packed with character. The Lord Nelson fits in perfectly – dating back to the 1500’s the building has been lovingly restored the KNEAD Pubs way. With charming dining areas throughout the building, you’ll be able to find a cosy spot next to the Aga or enjoy a breath of fresh air in the secluded pub garden. The Lord Nelson is bursting with character, but its relaxed atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for a bite to eat and a chilled out pint. A centrepiece of the Lord Nelson is the delicious food, fantastic selection of ales and range of wines and other beverages. Here at the Lord Nelson we’re passionate about serving up the perfect pint, along with a mouthwatering meal that combines traditional pub grub with a modern twist. Our well-known, stonebaked (and scrumptious) KNEAD pizzas are always on the menu, plus a great range of lunch or dinnertime dishes. That’s what makes this pub in Oakham the ideal spot for dinner with family, a bit to eat over a meeting or simply a quick drink with friends.
