A pub with great food in a prime location. My evening meal was lovely and the over night stay was good.

We were staying in Hope Cove and drove over the Salcombe. A pretty little down in Devon and stumbled across the Victoria Inn. The best scones and tea in Devon. Highly recommend

We ate here for dinner on the way home from a day out in salcombe. We were lucky to get a table as it is obviously very popular and nearly booked up. Wonderful lamb shank and can highly recommend the Shiraz! Sticky toffee pudding superb, and I have had many... Service by two young ladies was excellent and we were... More

Booked for a late lunch for NY eve, glad we did book well ahead as it was fully booked and they were turning people away for tables. Two fish and chips with mushy peas and a couple of burgers. Initially the portions of chips looked rather small but were perfectly adequate with the meals, in fact we couldn't manage dessert... More

Dear Fatandfrantic Thank you for your review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit to us. Last year we addressed the situation of waste and have become a bit more specific in the portioning of things like Chips, salad and veg as we found we were receiving quite a bit of wastage back. So although you may have... More

Having previously slatted this establishment ... I am so pleased to say that my visit this time was 1st class. Friendly staff .. good food .. and an excellent pint .. only praise. I have deferred the 5th star and this is nothing personal because the land lady wasn't there this time and it's her being there would need to... More

Dear Steben1965 Thank you for visiting us some 16 months after the last visit when it was clear you really, really didn't like us! Also in spite of me suggesting you didn't bother spending your money with us either - so I'm not clear why you felt it so important to see me? Unless it was to shower me with... More

Hi - for various reasons it's taken me quite a while to write this review, but not because of any lack of enthusiasm for the Inn. Wife and I stayed one night in mid-November, and had a great time. Having visited Salcombe on and off for the past 40 years we know the place quite well, but never actually stayed... More

Dear RichardR Wow - what a review!! Thank you so much, it's clear you really enjoyed yourself with us and we are delighted! I just want to explain why we don't serve breakfast at the Vic - when we first started offering the 2 rooms in the Hobbit House (definetley not Hobbit Hole) we owned Captain Morgans across the road... We visited Salcombe quite late on a gloomy Sunday afternoon in January. It was almost 3pm before we randomly chose to see if the Victoria was still serving food. A very friendly waitress quickly came to our table, assured us we were in time for the Sunday roast if we wanted it and took our drinks order. One of us... More

Probably the most dog friendly pub I have ever visited! The staff made a huge fuss of our elderly pooch and gave her a treat as soon as we arrived. Fleece blankets were available for dogs so that they wouldn't get cold on the flagstone floor and there was even a special menu of dogs treats - with proceeds going... More

Dear RosieC8 Thank you for writing what's on the whole a very complimentary review and I'm particularly pleased we looked after your elderly pooch as well. I suspect the meal in question is the Cassoulet - which I can assure you provoked huge discussion between the kitchens Chefs and much searching of Google and the various cookery books we hold!... Description
The Victoria Inn has been run by Tim & Liz Hore since 2008. We pride ourselves on being a 'Traditional Pub, with Traditional Values'.

It has this year (2014) been awarded the Taste of the West Gold Award - awarded for locality of produce used, ambiance and high standards of service. We are the only pub in the South Hams to hold this prestigious award. National finalists In Licensee of the Year, finalists in Devon Life Family Friendly Dining Establishment as well as previous Fish & Chip award finalists.

We welcome children with their own menu selection of home cooked food and dogs with their own Al a Bark menu!

Bookings to eat with us are advised as we get extremely busy and hate to disappoint customers.
