Redwillow is a brewery outlet for Redwillow brewery, Macclesfield. They have extensive beers from light beers, to the rather heavy Breakfast Stout, which is smooth, and "glides down the throat like a little Jesus Christ in white knickerbockers", which is how the late and magnificent...Richard Harris, once described the stout of old Dublin, and I now know what he means, as Guinness never hit the mark for me.
Booth seating downstairs and some sofa or table seating upstairs (not accessable to wheelchairs).
My order was taken by a delightful member of staff named Hope, chatty and makes one less worried about the future of today's youth as they metamorphasise into fully rounded, competent adults that can hold a conversation with people over three times their age.
Other staff all very pleasant too. Beer not cheap but if you want good quality, you need to pay for it.
There are still perspex screens between the booths, but masks are not necessary, which is a good thing in my opinion.More
Lovely little real ale type place, prices where expensive, infact when I checked a large wine and a bag of cashews cost me almost £12, yet a wine & a pint of shandy was £8.50, I know should have checked sooner, asked for a receipt...but only way was via email, won't happen again.
We sat with friends and waited to be served, and waited, and waited. there were 4 girl on service but preferred to chat and let 1 do most of the work, I caught the senior ones eye who mouthed just a minute. So not too impressed, place and drinks good, service not so.More
When called to book a table I specifically asked if there are any vegetarian options and they confirmed they have sufficient vegetarian dishes; was also advised that booking procedure is through Facebook. Competed all the formalities for booking and received confirmation email but when called...5 mins before reaching this place, they didn’t have record; after bit of conversation they agreed to provide a table.
When we reached they informed that pizza doughs have finished and we were left with only sides options so we decided to leave.
It was such a busy evening for restaurants in the city and were fully booked for the day, it took us sometime to find another place.
Such a let down.More
We were in Buxton for just one weekend but ended up in here for at least one drink every day. Staff are really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and there's a great variety of craft beers, gins, cocktails and wine and the place itself is a...lovely modern-traditional bar in an old converted bank. Bought some cans to take away, too! We'll deffo be backMore
Booked a table for Friday evening 7 30 pm.Met by a friendly member of staff who took us to a table upstairs in a great position all good so far.Given 2 drinks menus to peruse. Then told card payments only.Cash was all we had with us...so had to leave.I checked the website and couldn't find that it says card payment only. This obsession with cashless payments is quite baffling.More
We had a very nice drink here before a meal and enjoyed the relaxed ambience and interesting building. The beers were had were first rate and the covid restrictions sensibly applied, without being too restrictive.
We visited RedWillow a few times during a recent trip to Buxton. It’s got great beers and cocktails, the staff are all helpful and friendly. It’s well decorated and also played great music while we were there. Definitely the best bar in Buxton.
