My son and I just stopped in for a toastie, and could see that some were pre-made and on display, ready to be toasted. As I didn't want meat in the filling, mine was made freshly and, on being asked for my preference, opted for brown bread. I was then served white bread. While we enjoyed the nice big mugs of decent coffee, unfortunately the toasted bread seemed of poor quality. Although the staff were very friendly, I didn't appreciate the way our dishes were taken from in front of us one by one each time someone passed by with a trolley, even though WE WEREN'T FINISHED AT THE TABLE. It wasn't even busy at the time, so this is just rude.

It is a large self-service restaurant located strategically close to Bunratty Castle and is therefore always very busy. It is located above some shops. What you can't bring to the table immediately arrives later with the staff. We ate reasonably well.

Of all the years I've had wonderful experiences here but recently I've had more bad experiences. I was here for lunch with my husband and a friend and my friend and I decided we would like to have an adult portion of Chicken goujons and chips as we have ordered this many times in the past. We asked for it and the man behind the counter abruptly refused. I said are you out of goujons and he replied "No but your not getting any". We had to proceed and often from the carvery where we ordered Chicken Kiev and it was disgusting. This experience was absolutely vile. That man really needs to change he's manner as he will drive customers away. This experience was in the restaurant upstairs. There is also a coffee shop downstairs with much more welcoming staff. It costs nothing to be polite.

Why such a change?

Situated in the beautiful Dove Hill shopping area outside of Carrick on Suir, this eatery was a joy to visit due to its great food and atmosphere. Today neither is to be found. Overpriced dry carvery is served as if freshly prepared. I’m sure it was hours before it had dried out upon our arrival. Awful, terrible and tasteless is a summary.

Place is a rip off and food very basic

An absolute rip off , I got 2 sausages, 1 small piece if black pudding 1 small round hash brown, under cooked toast & mug of tea . € 11 . The mini breakfast is put onto a side plate , am I right in saying normal for a full Irish breakfast is around €11 or €12 ,to be charged€11 for 3 items , and food is very basic nothing fancy or special about it , and it was only lukewarm ..definitely driving past this place in future , absolute disgrace.

Awful, dried-out, terrible-quality food.

I ordered an adults portion of chicken goujons and chips. The chicken was of terrible quality. The outer part was burned. There was only a few measly chips. It seems the chicken (and probably the chips too) were sitting in the hot counter all day. This food shouldn’t be served.

Hi SheenaMarie101, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to us, I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your meal. I can assure you we do not keep food in a "hot counter", as all hot food is prepared freshly from the kitchens. If your meal wasn't to your taste we would have swapped it immediately for a new dish. Regarding the chips, they all come in the same portion controlled side dishes. If you required a larger volume, we would have gladly got you a second portion complementary had you told us of your requirements. Once again thank you for your review.

Worst food I’ve had in a long time. So went upstairs in jilly and Joe’s today with my family, service terrible and rude customers. Two of us had croque monsieur and 2 had the chicken goujons kids meal. The croque monsieur was disgusting, I’ve never seen one with orange cheese on top and only one side heated not toasted , croque monsieur is supposed to have bechamel sauce on the top, this had orange cheddar type of cheap cheese on the top and wasn’t melted and only heated on one side with a pizza flavour from it so revolting I couldn’t eat it and it came with a stone cold salad side dish that pained my teeth is was so cold. The kids meal was cheap frozen chicken type goujons, vial place, I have to say I will never eat in jilly and joes again.

I don't know who left those two reviews, but when we went there it was just lovely . I ordered from the street food menu from the sea , and my friend ordered tuna sandwich. I absolutely loved it! Fresh and well looked , brilliant service and presentation. The salads looks so yummy that I asked to add it to my order beetroot salad and coleslaw. We finished with coffee as I stoped there before only for coffee and was delicious. Well done , we definitely will back !! And thank you 😘

I visited here yesterday afternoon and was so pleased with this place. I was on route to clonmil and I went in for some lunch, the service was absolutely amazing and the staff were so chatty! I had a gorgeous wrap with chips on the side and my plate was clean when I finished ! I will definitely be bringing my family and friends here and it will be one a go to spot. Definitely have to visit if in the area !

I was recommended this place by a friend of mine as she said the food was good. I was met with disappointment on my visit as there was a particular member of staff, i believe out of the kitchen who was extremely passive aggressive towards myself and by the demeanour of staff towards them. this overshadowed the otherwise lovley spot with a dark and unwelcoming mood. i would not recommend this establishment unless something seriously changes with this member of staff.

Food here was amazing, went today for last minute dinner plans around 4ish was closing at 6! was quite busy but staff were so helpful when choosening what we wanted and keeping the place so clean! Will be going back again!!

Hi while on my way back from Waterford I stopped here for an absolutely lovely dinner. I had the chicken and mushroom vol au vont and mash. I was pleasantly impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. 100% will be returning with friends and family.

The worse lunch experience I ever had dove hill have gone down hill

Chicken curry with a small amount of chips no rice I asked for chips instead of rice watered down curry sauce dried out Chicken sure it was leftovers had to eat it wit a soupspoon charged 21 euros daylight robbery no to complain to never again it used to be a lovely place to eat shame

I usually have an amazing experience in Jilly & Joes Dove Hill, however, when I visited recently I was met with a very ignorant employee. She was cold and snappy with her answers to simple questions and explanations. She seemed to be friendly to older women, men and young men also. It baffled me really as I usually have a lovely time when I visit to get my Acai Bowls. Very disappointing to bring down the venues rating over one rude employee.
