I reluctantly joined friends here as their guests for an alternative take on Xmas Dinner as some of the reviews were rather uncomplimentary -- now I know why. All I can say in favour is that the staff were charming if somewhat stressed out. We were shunted out to the back instead of enjoying the views towards France and the... More

We had a delicious birthday afternoon tea here in excellent historic hotel overlooking the sea. The sandwiches were tasty and the home-made scones and tarts were great. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient.

Very poor quality. Overpriced for next to nothing. If you complain, you are banned from entering the Grand again. The ensuing customer service is dreadful. Would not recommend this venue to anyone. Far better places in the area.

This customer booked an afternoon tea on behalf of a group she is a member of. At the booking stage, approximately seven weeks prior to the event, she requested not one of our many popular Afternoon or High Teas with Traditional Scones and all the trimmings (listed by Kent Life as one of the best afternoon teas in Kent), but... We had an excellent meal in the conservatory overlooking the Leas. We were accompanied with some xmas tunes played on the grand piano which may be a seasonal addition. The waitress was extremely attentive to my father who was rather incapacitated after a fall and she made us feel very welcome. The slightly faded grandeur of this huge late Victorian... More

Beautiful building from the outside in a stunning location, but the Palm Court is such a disappointment. Met with silence by the waiter after waiting for a while at the entrance. He gestured towards the tables and said he would be with us 'in a while'. We picked out our own table which hadn't been laid since the last guests.... More

Went for a pre Christmas meal with the folks and family. Although the building needs some maintenance and updating, the atmosphere and service were impeccable. Food was above average but worth the £19.50 for 2 courses for the service ( again thank you Rita) the view from our table was fantastic looking out towards the sea.

I was invited for afternoon tea at "The Grand" by a friend who sings in a choir. I was told the price was £10.00 so expected something quite nice. There were 25 guests & we were ushered into a side room with a pianist playing,so far so good. We shared a table with 7 others, there were knives & forks in... More

Dear John R, I am aware of your complaint and would confirm the organiser (booker) of the event booked our “German Festive Afternoon Tea” which has been an incredibly popular Christmas mainstay at The Grand since 2009. The menu for that tea advertises “Traditional German Stollen; German Spiced Marmalade, Clotted Cream and traditional Lebkuchen biscuits” it does not offer Scones... More

We (a group of 4) dined in the Palm Court for a recent special occasion. As always, The Grand provides a lovely dining experience in charming surroundings. The food was excellent, plentiful and good value for money with first-class service from Rita and a personal touch from Robert the manager. We highly recommend The Grand, had a fantastic evening, and... More
