After a great short 5km walk from Gerrards Cross a right fine break in the garden. Inside is stunningly typical of Tudor beamed publics but with a friendliness and simplicity that anyone can live. Helpful service with a smile. Good beer and crisps. Pleasant end to a fine walk.

Walked to the village for Sunday lunch with the family; roasts were good but the cod and chips were a bit rubbery (frozen fish I presume) and my duck was supposed to be on a bed of mash but came with roast potatoes...no biggie but couldn't soak up all the lovely sauce that was with it. We were all completely... More

I visited this pub early August with my wife and dog. The pub is very old and is quaint. It is a winner of the Camra awards on a regular basis. Priding itself on real ales there are always approx. 10 ales to choose from and these are continually changing. It is a beer connoisseurs' dream. There are also lovely... More

This is probably one of the only properly preserved old fashioned pubs in the area. While most are now aspiring 'gastro-pubs', this place offers very good, basic and honest pub food, but that's not the point! It offers an excellent selection of real ales along with other tipples. And it has lots of nice spaces to enjoy them... a lovely... More

Very pretty pub in an attractive village,as mentioned in other reviews, the hanging baskets are superb. A helpful member of staff coped with my request for an adaptation from the lunchtime menu, our meals arrived promptly and were delicious and the beer was considered well kept. Recommended (Please consider doing cups of tea!)

This fantastic building situated in a picture perfect village has everything going for it, until you step inside and meet the staff! We arrived at 11.50 a.m. and were the only customers but we had to wait while the barmaid was being 'briefed' on every detail of the real ales on sale. This took 5 minutes and eventually I was... The staff here have managed to upset everyone I have ever taken there, so I dont take anyone there any more - just drop in for a drink occasionally when walking that way. It must have taken hours of training to get their staff to be so consistently inflexible, unaccommodating and customer unfriendly Good points (only 2): good section of... More

Stopped off with my wife and two sons......food was nice and a great selection of beers and ciders(didn't sample) the kids enjoyed playing in the trees and shed. Only thing that wasn't great is the miserable people that were in the garden with us.....but that's not a reflection on a nice pub!

Its a time warp. The beer casks are visible from the bar and the staff go to the cask to get your pint. Another old school feature is a bell is rung at 2.30 to tell customers its last orders until the evening session. Takes me back to pubs of the 60's.

Horrible experience. We booked a table for Sunday lunch. As soon as we walked in, the food area staff were swearing loudly at themselves and not happy. We were disappointed to see that only one roast was on offer, with only gammon, egg and chips or moussaka as the alternatives for a hot meal. We went to the food area... More
