We just had dinner at this lovely place and I must say the history alone had me excited to be going! Well the food was just as good as the stories that go with it. So let's talk about the food. I ordered the caramelized pork with mashed potatoes ( wonderful) my sister had the steak pie with mashed potatoes... More

Visited the pub initially for its alleged dark past but stayed for a meal after a few beers. Glad I did as it was some of the best food I have experienced in Great Britain. The regular fare was there but with some more options. The food was very good and of a good size. The staff were friendly and... More

I attended a retirement buffer here , the spread was really impressive, lots of different choices, which included: sandwiches, fish platter, chicken strips, cheeses & flatbreads. I found the food well presented and flavoursome. This venue I would definitely consider entertaining a small party here.

Good food reasonable priced . Nice atmosphere with its olde worldwide charm . Nice to sit outside when it's warmer though you are directly on the flight path Mains around £10-15 . Good portions & nicely presented Extended wait for dessert having been advised the kitchen was very busy at that time - quite surprising for a Mon night £66... More

I went in here after scrabbling about the local area looking for something to eat. The entire area is bereft. Walked in and was immediately told that the chef's would need to be asked if they could fit me in, at half past eight. When told they could I was happy to take a seat and have some wine. Alarm... Dined here with friends who were leaving the country for a new life in France. The menu is quite varied although not extensive...however, the quality of the food is excellent. The restaurant is set in a recently refurbished old coaching inn...reputedly the 3rd oldest in England. The well presented staff are both knowledgable and friendly!

We were a large family party. Our food was delicious including the vegetarian and children meals. We were allocated a room on our own which was lovely. Service was a little slow but the pub was quite busy. The men's toilets were out of action but they managed by using the disabled loo which also had baby changing facilities. Large... More

Friday night....... 20.00...... long week of conference calls and prats ticking me off! We got to the restaurant quite knackered and we're greeted with a broad smile and a choice of a large table or a larger one! (we tend to fill up a two person table with wine/water/beer/g&t...... and that's before the food arives.....you get the drift?) The food... More

They certainly don't try and get repeat business. Our Sunday lunch was pretty tasteless and took about 45 minutes to arrive even though there were only 6 others in our dining area. The staff are young and have not been taught to engage with their customers, Shame because its actually quite a nice venue

Believed to date back to the 12th century, The Ostrich on the old Bath to London road, close to Heathrow Airport and Terminal 5, is said to be England's third oldest inn. It's certainly a very fine example of its kind, combining everything you'd expect in a historic coaching inn: beams, nooks, fireplaces, crooked stairs, a cobbled courtyard and an interesting (albeit macabre) history. The chunky contemporary wooden furniture and bright colours come as a bit of a surprise, and work well with the huge, sagging beams, standing timbers and open fires. A wide-ranging menu serves good, freshly prepared food and reflects the demands of the area (the M4 and M25 are very near) and the concomitant mix of people. The specials board changes daily, while a lunch menu that is always ready within 20 minutes. A hearty Sunday lunch menu is served all dy long allowing you to indulge in a proper lie in and still have time for a roast.A private function room upstairs plays host to regular comedy nights and is available for hire for functions.
