The "Alex" is a very reliable favourite. Real ales, especially from the Cairngorm brewery are well kept. The star of the show, food wise is the fish and chips. Portions are very generous and fish is always very fresh. A great place to visit. A real focal point where a wide variety of people mix and are made welcome.

It may be standard pub fare but not many pubs give you three vegetarian choices. Very helpful staff and a great system for checking ingredients in dishes for food intolerances or ingredient dislikes! Portions generous as you would expect and nothing wrong with the quality.

Popped in here for an evening meal after a day of hiking. Decent food for a fair price - nothing all too fancy, but certainly not bad at all. I absolutely loved my dessert: the sticky toffee pudding was amazing!

Not fancy, not expensive but good, well made pub food at a very fair price and some decent beer too. Did exactly what it was meant to do.

Had meal on Friday night. Excellent food, service & price. Managed to feed two teenagers - they were delighted with what they got. No room for sweets and empty plates all round

Friendly and welcoming. Restaurant was closed, so we had a meal in the bar side. The meals were pub grub style, Lasagne and Steak pie. Both were tasty and good value for money. Would recommend for a friendly meal.

Disappointing soggy pizza , too much cheese , odd toppings , dreary bar area, really not my idea of a warm welcoming pub . Sad wine selection by the glass , so I drank water , hubby had a beer .

Hi jill, Thanks for your review, I am sorry we put too much cheese on your pizza and will certainly make sure our chefs review our ham, mushroom, tomato, pepperoni and chicken Pizza toppings. I appreciate we didn't have the dry piedmont, the sweet royal tokaji 5 puttonyos 2008 from Hungary or indeed the grand Californian great Opus One but... More

Popped in here for lunch. The restaurant was closed so we had to sit in the bar which was busy but not noisy. The owners were both pleasant and we didn't have to wait long for food. It wasn't a big menu but it wasn't over priced for what there was. We would probably come back if in the area... More
