Had a really good meal here with excellent service.... surprised the place wasn’t busier given how good it was. One of us wanted a simple burger with a tomato and onion salad and that proved to be no problem for the kitchen My lamb rump...More

Stale bread followed by the worst fish I’ve had in a long time: plaice ‘stuffed’ with cheap prawns and a teaspoonful of capers. No sauce, no seasoning, just grilled until dry and slapped on a plate with some ill matched accompaniments. The marmite butter was...More

On our last full day in England, we went back to the village where I grew up. The "Bedford Arms" is as good as ever. I suppose I had my first (1/2 pint?) there in 1957, and while there is now a nice garden out...More

Enjoyed excellent lunch here, first class fresh food, generous portions & lovely surroundings. Good staff, fair value for money, couldn't fault it.

E visit here quite frequently as it is close to our home, just the 2 of us and our Moday Lunch group, consisting of up to 16 friends. Normally they manage to cater for couples, but their service suffers dramatically for numbers over 8,the last visit with our...More

Came for a meal on a Friday night with my mum and brother, received excellent service throughout the email, John and Jake stood out especially. Exceptional food, and a brilliant atmosphere. I will definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

I'm hesitant to write this because I don't want to add painful memories to my friend and her family however I am appalled at the customer care and service of the management of this pub. I attended a Wake here following the funeral of my...More

To say I am very disappointed in the service and excuses made after the wake is an understatement! Firstly, when you look for a place to hold a wake for someone who meant the world to you. You look near the place they had lived...More

When we have come to the pub before our meals have been great, however we came here for a wake and it was a big disappointment. The chicken wasn’t cooked and we didn’t receive all the food we asked for and the tea was purple...More

We're passionate about local & seasonal ingredients, bringing to you the best from our talented team in the kitchen. Luckily for us we have a whole host of local suppliers bringing the top of the crops from field to plate! Catering for large parties, private functions & smaller more intimate tables too. Our menu changes every 6 weeks or so, in line with the seasons, our chefs cook from fresh so most special & dietary requests can be catered for. Located in the gorgeous village of Oakley, retaining it's classic good looks with high ceilings, snugs & a lovely conservatory over looking the walled garden. We'd say our style is British gastropub, with old classics & a few twists thrown in for good measure too, we can offer littles ones half portion sizes or they can sample our children's menu giving you plenty of options & hopefully a peaceful dinning experience! Look out for our events which include garden parties, quiz nights, live music, & hopefully an ale & cider festival too!
