Lemon tree now known as Virtue bistro. Arrived to find that we had been put downstairs in the cave area of the restaurant which resembles the inside of coffin with the pleated ceilings but staff seemed friendly. We had paid £25 each for a 3...More

Ate here last night, it was quite busy when we arrived, but we were seated quickly. Food arrived within half hour and the food was amazing! Lamb shank just fell off the bone and my chicken Caesar salad was delicious. Gordon and Gio were very...More

We came to this restaurant just accidentally when we feel hungry while walking in the town centre. This is middle of the week and hence there are not many customers in the restaurant. I have ordered a steak and my wife has ordered grilled chicken....More

I am not one to complain ordinarily however I was very angry and disappointed at my visit. I had organised a birthday surprise and arranged with this restaurant which is now VICTUS BISTRO to place flowers, candles and a bottle of prosecco on our table...More

Been meaning to try this place, now called Victus Bistro for a while. Went on a Tuesday night in July so it wasn't busy and therefore the service was a little "over attentive" at times. We checked the menu online only to find out, when...More

Visited this restaurant on recommendation from family members, but disappointed overall with the meal. It is worth noting their visit was when this restaurant was called The Lemon Tree and it is now called Victus Bistros. The restaurant, was quite quiet for a Saturday night....More

Description
The Lemon Tree is a charming bistro-style restaurant set in the historical heart of Colchester. The unique location, which encases part of Colchester’s original Roman wall, is a lovely setting to enjoy the delicious menu created from fresh, seasonal produce sourced from local farmers and organic suppliers. The Lemon Tree’s inviting dining room has dark wooden floors and furniture and an abundance of indoor plants and fresh flowers, while the atmospheric Roman Cavern room is perfect for private parties. We love The Lemon Tree’s popular rib eye steak with garlic butter and skinny fries, and the wild mushroom ravioli with chunky plum tomato sauce and parmesan cheese.
