For a large town Colchester hardly has a dearth of pubs that serve quality food. I very rarely visit restaurants but due to the above statement thought I would give timbers a try. Very impressive decor and food to match, the roast beef was cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were exquisite, I will definitely be back on my... More

A very characterful casual restaurant with a looming low ceiling of crooked beams dating back centuries in one of the oldest streets of Colchester. Having visited many times I have always found the staff very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu & attentive. You couldn't ask for more of them. It is easy to leave here on a full stomach having... We are regulars here at timbers and asked them to do afternoon tea for our wedding breakfast. Alison was great and sat down with us to find out exactly what we wanted. After several emails and face to face we left the rest to Timbers. All the food was prepared freshly on the day. When we arrived at the hall... More

Went to Timbers for lunch while out with mum and missus. Mum remembered enjoying a meal there some years ago with old school friends - they're now all in their eighties! Anyway the menu was pretty varied with some excellent home cooked favourites including two suet pudding options. We all opted for Suet Lamb Pudding with minted lamb. With piping... More

Visited for breakfast - had a traditional breakfast and opted for the largest size with additional black pudding. I certainly didn't to eat lunch or even tea that day. All very nice and a good cup of ☕️ tea aswell.

Went for lunch Easter Monday 2017 lovely food, cooked and presented very well, waiting staff very friendly, I do feel like the upstairs could do with a bit of a make over, it does feel like you have been dumped in a room because there is no room in the downstairs cosy part of the restaurant

Such a lovely little place, very accommodating 4 of us and a new born arrived for lunch without booking (was a busy Saturday) wasn't a problem at all. We all had main meals. Very shocked when I paid as very cheap for such a lovely lunch. Definitely go again. Ps best homemade burger I've ever had.

Simon, Ali and the team would like to welcome you to "timbers" our family run restaurant set in a gorgeous 400 year old timber framed building in the historic centre of Colchester.
We offer well cooked quality food from our famous breakfasts using locally sourced ingredients, such as Proctors award winning sausages, local farm free range eggs, to our home made versions of world renowned classics. Great Coffees and teas or maybe something a little stronger are all available to wash it all down with!
We believe that if we can serve you the best meals, by the friendliest staff, then you will be more than happy to come back and recommend us to all your friends.
