This was our first visit here and will certainly not be our last. The boat does not look much from the outside, but once inside it is lovely. Certainly one of the best places in Ipswich if you want a romantic candlelit dinner. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Service was really good and very friendly. I chose the... More

With my birthday approaching, and always desiring to dine on a boat, my boyfriend booked the mariners in celebration of my 22nd birthday. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming, taking our coats and showing us to our seats. The setting is idyllic and very romantic. It's one of those places where you can imagine engagements may take place... More

So, this is a very old gun boat which has been converted into a floating restaurant on the Ipswich Waterfront. Be warned- it gets busy, but we took a chance last Friday and got lucky. It is a wonderful experience inside - please do not be fooled by its external appearance. The staff are wonderful and really attentive without being... More

We were treated to lunch by friends for our silver wedding anniversary. The staff looked after us well from start to finish. The food was very well prepared and presented, delicious. Some bread and butter whilst ordering would have been a nice touch.

This restored late 19th Century gunboat was a perfect location for a leisurely lunch on a balmy, early Autumn day. We chose to eat on deck with extensive views of the marina opposite and dined from the set menu which has two and three course options. The food and wine were both very good and this was matched by the... More

Food very good. Bread or more toast shoul be provided with pate / mussels! No issues other than it needs cleaning. Blinds very dusty and other places. Normally wouldn't care but paid 40 pound a head for lunch and in Ipswich that's a lot!! But overall very good!

Busy, but they found us a table. Having been disappointed by ou hotel dining the night before were were looking for somewhere to redress the balance - and found it. The food was great, the service attentive and the atmosphere engaging. Booking advised, though as I think we got lucky,

Staying at the nearby Salthouse hotel we were recommended to the Mariners for dinner - a beautifully reconditioned boat with an interesting history stretching back before WW1. The setting in Ipswich's splendid marina was excellent and the food more than matched the surrounds. I would thoroughly recommend it

Took my mom for a belated Mothers day Saturday lunch. Superb food, excellent service and unique setting. Well impressed all round for somewhere special but not rediculously expensive
