This is one of the oldest, if not the oldest pub in Trondheim, and although much of it was reconstructed after a fire a few years ago, the reconstruction appears to be perfect - I couldn’t tell which parts were ancient and which modern. This...is primarily a drinking venue with an extensive list of domestic and international beers and ciders, a large selection of spirits (the whisky selection looked particularly good though I was there early in the evening and didn’t venture in that direction). There is also a short but interesting cocktail menu. The pub does not have its own kitchen but has an agreement with the adjacent Egon restaurant which allows it to provide a simple menu (think burgers and pizzas). Unusually for Norway, which is one of the best places in the world for those of us on a gluten-free diet, there was literally nothing suitable for me on the menu. This is a little surprising as the bar offers no less than three gluten-free beers. Perhaps the highlight of the visit was the extremely friendly and helpful staff - ready and able to advise on the extensive range on offer. Another pleasant surprise was a well-sheltered and heated outdoor area where those who wish to smoke can do so in relative comfort even in winter (and it was -5C/23F when I was there). Prices are in line with elsewhere in Norway. Those from New York, London or Tokyo will not be shocked but for others, they are eye watering...More
I really enjoyed this tucked away pub. We saw a large wooden building and stumbled upon it - and saw cute outdoor heated seating with blanket! The bartenders were fun and helpful with picking out some local brews, and we cuddled outside enjoy the breeze,...and blankets.More
It is a cousy place with a very good atmoshphere. Have been eating food here, and it is more than OK. Don´t be afraid to grab a beer here.

Right in the middle of the city center; the easiest is to enter the Thon hotel Prinsen and just walk across the backyard of the hotel to the rear entrance of the pub. One of the oldest in the city; unfortunately a fire recently destroyed...a major part of the original one, but it has been refurbished in a quiet, low key way that is cozy and informal. Wide selection of spirits and good local beers on tap. A place to spend an evening with friends! Highly recommended. Price-level: An aquavit and a beer: 20 euros approx, which is a bit on the high end, but in my experience, Trondheim is generally an expensive city when going out.More
The main attraction with this pub is its history, the sjoelbak (medieval Dutch variety of shuffle board) and a decent for Trondheim whisky selection. Beer selection is far from the worst but there are at least eight other places with a wider and more interesting...selection. The staff is very friendly and helpful, pizza is edible (Made by Egon) and the beer burger was very tasty. It consists only of a burger and two handfuls of crisps, however, so it's not what you'd get if starving.More

I spent a wonderful evening with the family at this great historic pub. The beer and whiskey selection was excellent - I highly recommend the saison. We had burgers and pizza that were quite tasty. The staff was friendly and the kids were welcomed until...10PM on a Friday night. A great place to grab a cold beer and a quick bite.More

Great pub for the more mature person ! Lovely bar staff ! The food comes from the Thon hotel so it's not a gastro pub. But very welcoming and warm.
Close to the centre but away from the main walking streets and the Solsiden dockside. Recently renovated after a fire, it is quite cosy. The barman was friendly and courteous. We ate, but were informed after ordering that the pub had no kitchen and that...the food would be made at a restaurant some way away, being a little pressed for time, we were a little stressed when our pizzas eventually arrived after 40 minutes. It would have been nice to have enjoyed then for a little longer than the 12 or so minutes we had before we had to leave. However the pizza was tasty, and I will go again next time I am in Trondheim.More
Been here a couple of time playing dutch shuffleboard with colleagues from work. That is just fantastic. Amazing building. Food: over-prized small portions. I eat another place before going there. Beverages are ok. You go there for the atmosphere and for spending time with the...friends you are there with....More
At this place you can go for just a beer with friends. Nice and relaxed place, nothing fancy, but a bit kozy. I tried the spareribs, which was good and tasty, my friends was happy with the meal. Prices are average. Pro *Nice and relaxed...place. *You dont need to eat but can just get a beer. Cons *When the place is crowded it gets a bit noisy for smalltalk.More
