AN OSTERIA IS A PLACE TO RELAX! Enjoy good food and drinks. An osteria is a place to meet with friends and take your time enjoying your meal. Have a glass of wine with your pizza, enjoy a coffee and cannoli after your pasta; the osteria is a place to enjoy classic Italian dishes and meet your friends and neighbors. In Norway, we call it "koselig", so come join us for a relaxing lunch or evening.
Superdelicious food and great service! Very authentic italian food!
Me and my friend ordered tortellini bolgona and pizza, and Canollo Siciliano for dessert! It was all very yummy! Planning to go back again already🤤
We came to the restaurant for a launch at about 14:00 (Saturday) without booking the table and the restaurant was full. We couldn't get the table but we were put on the waiting list. When we came back 40 minutes later the table was there...waiting for us.
I really appreciate that we got the table so this is a big plus for the service.
However, it is very difficult to make the order since the restaurant is very busy during Saturday launch time and the staff has multiple roles at the same time but I will come back to that a later.
Let's review the food and drinks now.
My wife had a pizza of the day, my son had a Tagliatelle al Ragu and I had Italian classic Carbonara.
The pizza dough was crunchy on the side and at the bottom with tomatoes, mozzarella, hot sausage. My wife was satisfied with the pizza so give a pass.
Tagliatelle al Ragu was ok according to my son although he did not eat all portion. He shared a little bit with me just to taste and I personally did not like it especially some red fat. So I cannot recommend this dish since it was not to my taste.
My carbonara was with homemade pasta which I like and with lots of cheese. Personally, when I make carbonara for myself I put less cheese. They use parmesan cheese but I prefer pecorino again no big deal. The meat in carbonara was smoked pancetta which I like. Unfortunately, it was not gvancale as meat but then this dish would not be 179 NOK rather a lot more expensive and it is not easy and cheap to find gvancale in Norway. I was pleased with carbonara and I can recommend this dish.
As for drinks, my wife and I had Aperol Spritz which we both like when the day is sunny, nice, and warm as excellent refreshment. It took a while to get those drinks and it was ok although without orange inside. Our waiter apologize several times for that inconvenience which is a nice gesture and I do not mind missing that part considering how busy he was during our stay.
Considering the prices Norway is an expensive country so be aware of that. We paid 809NOK for our food and drinks (three persons) which can be considered a mid-range price for Norwegian standard. We could pay less 262NOK if we skipped the drinks and took only tap water so that is the tip for those complaining about high prices. Just take tap water and your bill will be around 25 percent lower.
All in all, we are satisfied with this restaurant and would come back in the future.
Now, I would like to address this to the management and hope they read the reviews.
This is obviously a very popular and busy restaurant in an excellent location especially during rush hours like our Saturday lunchtime. Even while we were eating the waiting line was stretching on the street in front of the restaurant.
Our waiter was very busy during our stay and the others too. He was responsible to address people waiting, put them on the waiting list or seat them, take the orders, make the drinks, bring the food, address any issues with customers, payment and just short time spend answering customer needs. In my opinion that is too many roles for just one person and not much time seeing what is going on in the restaurant and addressing the needs of the customers at the tables.
Our waiter was running all the time to accomplish all the roles above and of course, it is difficult to do that so no wonder he forgot the orange in our drink or took him a long time to fix our drinks. It is almost impossible to multitask that much.
I am not here to teach you how to run your business but if I were you...
I would have a dedicated person to address the waiting persons in line, check the bookings, seat the tables, manage the waiting list with the additional task to help waiters when there are fewer main tasks. It would be nice to have a dedicated person in the bar to fix the drinks so customers are not waiting a long time for their drinks and with the highest quality. In my eyes, the waiter is a servant, not a bartender. Waiting staff needs more time to dedicate to the customers and their needs and focus primarily on those who are already inside. With better organization, I believe that the restaurant can reach the top 10 in Oslo.
Cheers and see you again.More
After taking 4 hours from disembarking our plane in Oslo, wading through an unbelievably disjointed passport control for any nationality, we were rewarded by one of TripAdvisor‘s recommendations. It did not disappoint. The staff, the location, the quality was all truly welcome.
One of the best pizza places i have been to. Great place to eat ! My whole family went out smiling. Our waiter recommend our pizzas and everybody like theirs. I got the one with truffle cheese in the middle. Out of this world!
Been here a couple times now. Very good food, and the portion sizes and price is very nice! The staff is kind, not anything out of the ordinary. Very authentic and cozy atmosphere.
Only thing I wish is that it was more room and tables...so the waiting times for walk-ins wasn’t that long. When we make a reservation there are no problems😁
Great food, beer and Aperol Spritz!More
