I think the restaurant hired a musician to play outside the bar. It was awfull, he could not sing at all and we didn't want to listen to him. It was like a teenager brought his new iPhone and wanted everyone to listen. 3k+ NOK...meal down the drain.More

It was my 5th visit at this restaurant. This time I wanted to try something new, since I always ordered ravioli so I asked the waitress about Vitello Tonnato. The only information I got was that the dish is big. She didn’t even inform me...that it would be served cold. I tried it and I didn’t like it. The reaction of the waitress was completely out of line. She told me that it was written in the card *lettstekt …and asked me if I want to order something else. I ordered ravioli since I ate it before and knew it was good. The waitress might have taken it personally because she was acting annoyed and impatient the rest of our visit. I had to pay for the both dishes ravioli and vitello…even though I ate just one …More

The food almost feels like you could be back in Italy. The wine list is filled with good wines that aren´t very expensive. And the staff was super friendly and helpful

Have been to Trattoria on several occasions the last ten years and they never disappoint. The oxtail ravioli is worth the visit alone but the real deal ist the 4 course menu. The meat of the day is a treat. Not to forget the wine...list which is probably the best in Oslo when it comes to Italian wine. The ambient is like being on holiday in Italy and the waiters are, although somewhat variable, mostly superb.More

Really good. Tasty food. Good selection, including some veggie stuff. Really good service and not too pricey. Not mind-blowing, but we’ll definitely go again.

Had a reservation on the first floor for me an my friend, came on time. The waiter tapped on the QR code while passing by, hinting that that was the menu. Waited 22min for him to take our drink order. We ordered everything at once...since we didn’t want to risk waiting additional 20min. The waiter came back multiple times to check if he got the order right. It was 2 glasses of wine, 2 steaks and 2 pce of vegetables...not a very complicated order worth interrupting our conversations for. We still had to ask for the vegetables again after the steaks arrived without them. They had to make them (based on the time it took). Everything else was cold when the veggies arrived (PS! Only one portion, not the two we ordered). They did not take any additional drink orders, and were not attentive at all so basically impossible to get another glass. The food was good, no doubt, but we were still hungry, and decided to go somewhere else to get dessert and wine. Upstairs is much better based on previous visits.More

Went here for a birthday celebration on a Friday night. Lively and crowded - the food and drinks were excellent. Friendly staff too.

My first impression upon entering the place was positive. It’s nicely decorated and has a good ambience. Unfortunately it went downhill when interacting with the wait staff. All three waiters that served us where arrogant, not customer minded and plain rude - snapping their fingers...and yelling “hey!” to grab our attention while interrupting our conversations. The food served was, I am sorry to say, just plain bad. The seafood clearly not fresh and smelled terrible, meat dry and too tough to chew, pasta bland and soggy. About half the plates were barely touched. I hope that we were just unlucky on that particular day and that this does not reflect the standard of Trattoria Popolare.More

Amazingly tasteful, spot on at every dish they served. Listened to what was not preferred. Loved every minute of it. Definitely will be coming back one day!

We had booked a table so we were seated on the 2nd floor. Packed with people there even early in the evening on a Saturday night. Too much noise for my liking, made it difficult to have a conversation. After ordering we got some focaccia...which tasted nice, but was a bit dry. The first dish was one of their signature dishes: oxtail ravioli served with spinach and a sauce based on beef stock. It tasted nice, but there was not enough filling so the ravioli felt dry. Also the sauce had too much chili for my taste (but I'm a feline in that area, I have to admit). The other course was the real winner for us: risotto with cured meat (spekemat) and peas. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the whole dish was packed with flavor. I would definitely order it again. For desert we shared a tiramisu, which was nice but a bit on the sweet side. I would have preferred a little more bitterness from the coffee. The bill came to 470 kroner for two main courses, desert and a glass of red wine. Very good value for money, and we will be back (but probably not on Saturday night).More
