This cafe and restaurant is a decent and comfortable place to sit and read by the lovely bookshop, gently chat and discover a nice selection of new Norwegian brewing gems or enjoying a glass of wine (wines available by the glass are good and well chosen, following the magic macro-regional skills at not losing time with crap; some wine lists... Finally a restaurant in Oslo serving honest food for a decent price, including good friendly service and surprisingly better fish than Solsiden on the waterfront. You can also have a conversation here without music drowning out the customers. Recommended!

This place was pretty decent when it opened, but the last couple of times has been a complete disaster. So has the reviews in the Norwegian papers been. The last time I was there, tonight, my girlfriend got a halibut, that had already started the rottening process. I didn't taste it myself, luckily. I didn't have to either. It was... More

I´ve always had great food when I´ve dined here in the past. However tonight something was wrong with the halibut. It was basically marinated in a a bed of salt that felt like sandpaper. This is the first time, ever complanining about the food in a restaurant, and I don´t do it lightly. But, that isn´t the worst part. I... More

The food is very nice, provided you are ok with not having lots of choice in the menu. The fish of the day was delicious and the American waitress who served our table was pleasantly funny, nice and extremely professional.

Went there to have some wine and a snack with some friends. We found a sunny spot on a chilly day. While two of us were in buying wine one of the waiters just removed the chairs, eith no excuses, apology or explanation - apart from this is not allowed. The same waitress also almost slammed the door in my... More

Visited together with my sister for lunch and we both ordered the lasagna. The service was good and the the food arrived quickly. However, the lasagna was not warm and it had that taste of food that has been made in the morning and heated in a microwave just before serving. Not what you would expect at the price they... More

One of my favourite places to eat, work and drink some wine in Oslo! It is marvellous to sit on the terrace when it is sunny. Good coffee, nice interior.

The lasagne meal was completely overcooked, albeit not warm. In addition he place was noisy and service non-existent.

This place is perfect for enjoying a long lunch, accompanied with a glass of wine and a book, in the sun. Packed with Norwegian journalists and politicians - still always room for a traveller. Enjoyed their vegetarian special of the day. Apparently the have different talks most days, but as I don't read Norwegian I wouldn't know what they're all... More

On the ground floor of the House of Literature you find Kafé Oslo - Litteraturhuset's café, bar and restaurant, with tables both indoors and outdoors. Here you can get lunch or dinner, or just something to drink. The menu at Kafé Oslo's is changed frequently. The kitchen is open Monday-Saturday until 10 pm (closed 3.30-4 pm) and Sundays until 6 pm (lunch menu only). In the innermost end of the café you find LesBar (=Readable), with deep chairs with reading lamps and a comprehensive collection of newspapers and magazines. Kafé Oslo is a literature café with its own stage and regular events. Litteraturhuset (the House of Literature) opened in 2007 and is the first centre of its kind in Norway.
