The sea food you will find on your plate is probably the catch of the morning from the Saltstraumen. Food is simple, but that accounts certainly not for the quality which is great. View is simply stunning. Service is very friendly and gives expert advise on your choice of meal. Do not mis!

After a long drive, we stopped here for dinner. My wife somehow got the corner table overlooking the Maelstrom and we both ordered the Halibut and a coffee. Wow what a dish and plenty of it too. Great value and great food while we watched the fishermen catching plenty...

Old fashioned cafe with a stunning view over Saltstraumen. You can watch fishermen land tons of fish while enjoying warm waffles.

After watching the fast water for some time, we went to Kjelen to get some refreshment. You can sit on their terrace, when weather is nice, and have a perfect view of Saltstraumen. We had coffee and the specialty: Møsbrømlefse. Hard to describe, but like a warm Taco filled with brown goat cheese and Norwegian sour cream. Yummy!

Description
Welcome to Kafé Kjelen We are situated in the middle of Saltstraumen with the best views and excellent fishing. This is the best place to view the magnificent maelstrom and enjoy a nice meal at the same time. Refreshments can be enjoyed outside on our beautiful porch. We have a beautiful fish restaurant where we serve 3-course fish menu with wine that accompany the food perfectly.
