Our friend's took us here for a meal. We are vegetarian so it was great to see an all vegetarian menu with local dishes. I had the chilli sin carne with bread which was really nice. They have an extensive drinks list and a very impressive "whiskey bible" consisting of over a 1000 different whiskeys from around the world. I... More

After finding this place on Tripadvisor, as two vegetarians, we decided to venture out to try it. When we got there we were impressed by the cosy atmosphere, but the place was packed except for a couple of reserved tables. We left and returned around an hour hoping for better luck. The pub is clearly a popular meeting place for... More

Great vibe, fast staff (quick with the whisky now!) and of course a wonderful selection of whiskies. Apparently they have food too...

If there's a better bar in the world today, I don't know it. I've been travelling from London to Vienna several times a year for the last couple of years, mainly to go with friends to Rupps! Food is decent, all vegetarian, lots of fake-meat schnitzels and the like, served until 11pm although you can get a cheese toast until... More

Tha place is really great. The dishes are exellent, big and cheap. If you are not vegetarian it is also ok because the food is very tasty. If you want you can play table football or darts inside. To much smoky as for me.

This has to be the best bar in Vienna - I cannot visit the city without visiting Rupp's and usually I go there every night I'm in Vienna. The food menu is entirely vegetarian, wide-ranging, excellent value and the non-veggies I know who have been there with me all commend it! But, once you've got past the food menu, you... More

The Pub offers a great atmosphere to hang out with your friends. A wide range of international and local beers. You should definitely ask for the whiskey menue, it is insane, guess more than 700 Whiskey are available! Awesome! There is an average choice of good vegeterian food, the burgers are recommendable. Service is nice and fast. Changing events, so... More

The pub is far from the main touristic areas, yet the district is pretty central, you can go there by feet from Mariahilfestrasse or with the subway to Margarethengürtel and then walk a little bit. Place is rather small, but it's not really crowded, so you don't need a reservations unless it's some special occasion you're going for. I'm not... More

It's been, like, six months since my visit, but I still dream about my vegan goulash! Which had 'meaty' lumps and a great big dumpling. Delicious. My husband had a schnitzel, and while he looked slightly less enthused than me, it was still yummy junky veg. Just what we were looking for, since we live in a soy-deprived, vegan-unfriendly country.... More

Staying in Margareten

Neighbourhood Profile
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
