The location of this place was like of a sleepy township.. We reached in the afternoon and stayed in till late evening.. Amazing wine ... from their own vinyards was the high point..well literally! Service was good with very polite ladies.. The nice part was that senior citizens flooded the place by evening..with their cigars..wine and card games..it was a... More

I would never have found it if my friend native to Vienna had not suggested it (as it was not in my guidebook and quite a way out in the suburbs!) Of course once upon a time Ottakring was a separate village, but as Vienna has grown outwards it has been swallowed up. 10er Marie is huge, with outdoor tables... More

"Heuriger" in German means "Winery"... or in this sense "Wine Garden". There are dozens of these wine gardens in outer Vienna...I highly recommend visiting at least one! 10er Marie is easy to get to: Tram #2 heading east will drop you in front at the Johannes-Krawarik stop. This will also get you an interesting look at the less glamorous side... More

A great traditional Austrian place! Amazing food, homemade, very tasty and natural, good service, nice people. Clients are of good quality. You feel as a home party with a large family. Taste all dishes you will not regret!. Pickles are good and deserts great. You should make a reservation after 6 pm is difficult to find a table. It worth... More

Traditional Viennese "Heuriger" with traditional food and wine. It's well worth the trip out of the city. We took an uber but were told the Tram #2 goes all the way out to 10er Marie and is well worth the investment of your time. We were a large group there for a party but looked like there were locals as... More

Dine or just have a drink in heuriger viennese is a must on any trip in Austria. A big advantage of Heuriger 10er Marie is the easy way how to get there from city center. Just take the tram number 2 and almost at the end of the line, you will find the heuriger on the right side of the... More

Love this place! Straight forward good food (nothing even approaching nouvelle cuisine!), but not for the faint hearted (see my picture of black pudding, Stelzen and other joyously rich cuts of meat!), though vegetarians can happily enjoy the many different kinds of salads.

I didn't realize that a chicken schnitzel looked like something from KFC because I'm a dweeb but it was really good. It doesn't matter though because the wine was so fantastic!

Typical viennese "Heuriger" with economic and fresh food and superb wine for a reasonable price. Very nice location and good service

Take tramway 2 and after a pleasant 25 min ride through Vienna get off at the stop Johannes Krawarik Gasse. While entering the restaurant, you will notice that in Austria it is allowed to smoke in bars and restaurants. Skip the smoking area and go to the non-smoking area. It is a really good thing they have a non-smoking area,... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
