After waiting in line for 45 minutes (despite seeing many empty tables inside) we were “welcomed” by a bored hostess who didn’t smile. Service was basic and without any sparkle. The famous cake arrived and it was dry and lacking flavour. Staff avoided eye contact...and looked to the floor most of the time. It didn’t impress me. Considering the heritage, this place needs to make more of an effort.More

What a disappointment…. For a cafe named after the famed Viennese torte I was expecting an excellent Sacher cake and it was one of the worst I’ve had. Incredibly dry and lacking in flavor, still cold from thawing process. The place is lovely and we...had to wait in line to get in, it felt like a complete tourist trap. Do yourself a favor and go to either Cafe Central or Aida, lovely desserts in both places.More

Interior, staff, coffee.... 5 + really fancy Sacher cake and other cakes.... 3. I do remember, few years ago, Sacher cake was way better than now. So, we were a little bit disapointed. Prices are too high (8,90 € for an average cake?).

One of the must do things when visiting Vienna is coffee and cake at one of its oldest grandest coffee houses. We went here on recommendation and queued outside for 30 mins. The room inside was lovely and old fashioned and the cake selection was...ok but not very large. What was disappointing was the staff… one in particular had a look that said we were an inconvenience- no attempt at small talk, no smile, just impatience. Empty tables with a long queue outside indicated a lack of organisation - wouldn’t recommend unfortunately. We did also visit 2 more much better ones with a much more varied menu, interested and professional staff and better organised - The Central Cafe and DemelMore

This is as n overhyped place in my mind . Arrived to Vienna and was told in advance that I MUST try the Sachertorte with the original recipe at the Sacher cafe .. If you don’t have a reservation you need to wait in line....Ordered one Sachertorte and one Irish coffee. Neither myself nor my son liked the torte and left it in the plate The Irish coffee however was goodMore

Delicious Sacher cake in an elegant ambiance! Sacher Cafe is located in Sacher Hotel which is across the Opera. Service was fast and friendly. We certainly recommend a visit to this place when you are in Vienna.

Gorgeous food but the service massively let the experience down. The lady in charge (although was friendly to us) snapped at another customer, then visibly sighed about them and then snapped at one of the younger waiters. We were hoping to order cake after our...breakfast but no-one came to ask if we wanted anything else and it was impossible to catch someone's eye so we had to go to the front of house and ask for the bill. Go to Cafe Central instead... food's just as good, a better choice of cakes and much better service.More

A must visit and a must go to place when you’re in Vienna! The breakfast is amazing and the famous sachertorte is just as perfect with the coffee! 😍 We’ll come back for sure. But just expect that the place is a bit busy as...they are very famous and so the servers might not acknowledge you always which I think is in the whole of Vienna. The customer service needs some warmth and happy smile around the restaurants. (Something that we have noticed only! But maybe we’re wrong! So experience it yourself guys!) Thus, explains the 4 instead of the 5 stars. Nevertheless the place has an amazing interior design and the food as well is superb!More

We went to this cafe in the late afternoon and managed to get a table after queuing for only 5 mins. The interior was plush and beautiful. We order the Sacher-Torte and hot drinks to warm ourselves from the cold. The cake was chocolatey and...decadent.More

Wonderfully decorated for the festive season with its giant nutcracker doormen, the Café Sacher is every inch the grand dining experience it promises. To avoid the odd feeling of a dining room filled with tourists all having chocolate cake for breakfast we decided to have...a full breakfast finished with the obligatory Sacher Torte. Would say the regular breakfast was expensive and nothing special. Stick to the Sacher torte and you won’t be disappointed.More

There is a fair sized shop right next to the hotel where they will send out of country pastries & as often as not people are lined out the door to obtain them for residents & tourists alike.

Waited in line for almost an hour in the cold when we were finally allowed to enter. Imagine our surprise that at least eight tables were empty in the tearoom where we were led to. Looking at the other tearoom across the hall, it was...more or less the same situation. Having a line outside must be part of their marketing strategy: “We have a waiting line so it must be good…” We were put at a table close to the hallway where we had a good lock at the hostess in the hallway. Her behaviour proved me right on my above theory: she stares at her nails for some time and then, all of a sudden, she decides to let a couple in. Out if the blue, just because she thinks it’s time. Anyway, the coffee (Irish) and cake (Sacher Torte of course) were good but not that special. The atmosphere in the tearooms is so so (almost afraid to talk) and the carpet needs replacing. So my advise: don’t waste your time in line unless you really need the Instagram post…More
