I have been going to Café Stein for years, recently less often. The food is generally decent to good, portions are fairly big and prices fair. (Although, having said that, don't order the ham & eggs, they are super dry and not very tasty.) They claim to have a separate smoker's section which in principle they do: it is separated... More

We had dinner here. Schnitzel, wraps and curry. The food was good and fresh and our server was friendly.

I had lunch here with a friend. Staff was friendly and had no problem speaking English to us (despite our attempts at answering in German). We had to wait quite a bit, but that was due to the many people dining at the place. I would certainly return.

We were a group of 5, had a drink and an apfelstrudel. All was ok until the waitress told us the amount to pay. We had 30€ and she asked for 40€...twice. So we asked the receipt and she acted like nothing happened. So if you come here, pay attention to the check, the waiters are bad with math.

The café is really nice, the staff is very attentive and friendly, great location and their home made lemonade (you can get it hot too) is good. Recommendable!

We had breakfast here twice and it was very consistently good. Great service food was fresh tasty and well presented. The juices were lovely. We enjoyed sitting outside as the weather was great but inside looked lovely too. Nice location as out if the tourist traps and seemed to be full of locals.

We visited this place for breakfast, and we were very satisfied. Nice staff, cozy terasse, reasonable prices.

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
