We went there twice, everything was delicious and the staff is great. The garden is beautiful and quiet. Perfect for a break.

We decided to go and check the place. The place inside is wonderful. Very nice ceilings. We tried Melange and Apfelstrudel. Both were good but overpriced. But you know what you will pay before going so there is not much to complain here. I advise...you to go once. Maybe not more.More

Was craving a coffee and cake and walked into this restaurant recommended by google. The interior is gorgeous, coffee was fine and the cake was quite nice. However while paying the waitress basically demanded that I tip. Now I do know different countries have different...policies on tipping but it should NEVER be turned into an obligation. Tips should be given for good service and should be the customers initiative. Why would you ask me if I want to tip then get mad if I decline?More

Great venue with friendly service. Found it to be better and less busy on Monday than at the weekend. Lovely food and coffee.

Gerstner is a secret gem next to the Opera house. We passed by it, looking for it, and we did not realize it was there. Had a great variety of tortes and a great view of the Opera house. On the top floor there is...the option to have also some fine dining. I loved this place!!!More

We were told about this place by a friend who had visited Vienna before and it did not disappoint. We went up to the 3rd floor and were shown to a table. They have a fantastic display of cakes and strudel, so selected one and...had a lovely cup of hot chocolate. Definitely worth a visit, but remember although the cafe opens at 10, the 3rd floor does not open until 11.More

Gerstner has a charming shop on the ground floor and a lift which takes you to an opulent large tea room serving the most delicious cakes/ slices/ strudels .. ever ! The ceiling is full of wonderful murals . In fact the whole floor is...superbly maintained.. To add to our incredible cherry/ apricot strudels came some delicious Gruner Veltliner fizz .. something we can’t get in the UK. Just delicious. Gerstner has been there since 1847 and is a must stop off for afternoon refreshments. Highly recommended. Enjoy !More

After coming to Vienna many times, discovering this spot was probably the best surprise. On our first visit, we went on the second floor, there was a long and slow line, but my friend convinced me it was worth waiting, and she was right. The...place is fancy, warm, sophisticated. The choice of sweet delights and drinks is really fine. Unfortunately, the top floor has limited working hours and they were closing down late afternoon. Next time we came back, we opt for the first floor, luckily there were no waiting lines as it was during the work hours. The first floor was even better. I found my favourite drink, the Gerstner special Baronini drink. Filled up the present basket on the ground floor with dessert boxes and mini bottles of wine. Just love this placeMore

Vienna provides a lot of treasures and a pause after a visit is a cleaver idea. Gerstner is the right place. It is a typical Viennese café, nice furniture, excellent food, and great service. The first floor features nice tables and you should not miss...the unforgettable view of the Opera!More

On both floors, the staff all stare at you. Then when they can be bothered, they tell you to wait until there’s a table. Bizarre

You can have cake and coffee any time, even during lunch. It's absolutely fine, the pastries are served all day long.

Hi, Sorry I’m just answering, but I saw this for the first time just now. No, there is no lift unless one has been installed since last year.
