My wife and I stumbled across this place looking for some dinner on a Friday night. We found a brilliant corner table tucked away downstairs. The food was authentic Austrian and very tasty, and our waiter was great. I will definitely recommend friends to visit this place 👍🏽

Went here as part of the Vienna Food Walk tour. Ate downstairs at a table that was tucked away in the old oven where pretzels were backed. The pretzels were the best we have had in Austria and Germany. The Tapelspitz was unremarkable but I think this is a function of the dish rather than the restaurant. The goulash was... More

The place is quite narrow, and since we had a kid on a stroller it wasn't very comfortable. We have ordered a few typical simple dishes: potatoes, some spicy vegetables, scrambled eggs, soup. Food was quite disappointing, not very good. They made us pay 7€ for a bottle of water, not advising us while we were ordering. Final price was... More

There are two dining levels - downstairs in the cellar by the candlelight it's more fun. The menu has a number of traditional Austrian staples - my selections did not disappoint. Very friendly service and overall fantastic experience!

Cozy, traditional, filled with locals. Not fine cuisine, more hearty Central European/Austrian dishes. We had Wiener Schnitzel; good. And only the veal version available, which denotes a focus on doing things right; the most important. Folklorique decor on two floors (level and basement, traditional stone). One star removed for all the non-obvious fee-based extras: pretzels, cranberry jam, and expensive double... More

This is a nice find for good Austrian cuisine. It is hard to locate but worth the effort. We were seated immediately seated and our waitress"Natto" was very attentive and personable. I can personally recommend the cabbage soup, the garlic soup, and the pretzels. The lager beer Gusser was also very good. Also, you might want to save some room... More

Everything we had was just delicious including the desserts which we tried all of them and shared. The waiter was friendly and we barely had to wait for the food. The inside of the restaurant somehow reminded us of a scenery of a harry potter movie with all the details and it was an adventure to see this.

Glad I found this gem. Beautiful and cosy interior. friendly waitress and very reasonably priced. The pretzel was fresh and fluffy and my main of beef and dumplings were delicious. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to eat proper Austrian cuisine.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
