We stopped off in Vienna for the day between Prague and Budapest so used trip advisor's advice to eat at Brezl Gwoelb- we were so pleased we booked ahead by email to make sure this was our first eating experience in Vienna- Our waitress Michaela welcomed us into the cosy restaurant with a smile having reserved our table as requested... Glad I found this gem. Beautiful and cosy interior. friendly waitress and very reasonably priced. The pretzel was fresh and fluffy and my main of beef and dumplings were delicious. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to eat proper Austrian cuisine.

Such a nice and typical restaurant. Staff is really nice and available. Food is really good and the prices are fair for the quality! Definitely worth a try!!!! ;)

Just arrived home after a dreadful experience here. Waited 90 mins for food and then only 2 out of 3 mains arrived! The goulash was pretty horrible. We've just had a week in Austria and everywhere else would have had 5 out of 5 on trip advisor. This place was the worst by far. Our fault really. It's well written... More

Found this place when googling "pretzel, Vienna". Was walking around on a Sunday evening without many choices for good quality food. My husband and I loved this little place so much! Had a hot pretzel each with the pumpkin cream soup and Viennese soup. One Grosser beer each. "Granny's apple strudel" to finish it off. Our waitress was very nice... More

If you are looking for a an authentic Austrian tavern, this is it. The atmosphere is so cool and the food was delicious! There were 7 of us in our party. We had the pork and sauerkraut, wienerschnitzel with potato salad, baked chicken and boiled beef. Every dish was outstanding. And added bonus is that Brezlgwölb is located in a... More

This great small restaurant is off of the beaten path, but close to the main streets. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was friendly and good. The menu offers a nice variety and is not too long, not too short. They have an online website for your review. We enjoyed our a traditional beef goulash (15 euro) and... More

Really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. The waitress was very helpful and friendly, explaining the dishes to us and accommodating my request to have a main course dish as a starter portion. The pretzels were super tasty - the best I have ever had. We sat outside on a lovely warm night and very much enjoyed the atmosphere and... More

I know this might be an Austrian thing but I really don't like places that refuse to give you tap water, as this restaurant did. The service was rude, and the food was very average. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We decided to have our Wedding Anniversary meal at this establishment, following the positive Internet reviews highlighting its authentic Austrian fayre. 2 Pretzels were brought out to our table first, along with our ordered drinks. As we had not ordered the Pretzels, we imagined they were a free offering, as you might get with bread perhaps. Our main meals were... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
