Classic viennese coffee house, established in 1873, right on the ring, by the state opera and across from the city hall. We had great coffee and traditional apple strudel, as well as a French style chestnut mouse dessert. Both were very tasty. great for atmosphere...and taste- not value (there cheaper coffee places around).More
Where do I start? After a crisp evening with a few Glühweins at the Christkindlmarkt on the Rathausplatz my husband & I spotted Café Landtmann & how beautiful it looked from outside & were too curious to not investigate what delights were within… & we...were not disappointed. In fact we instantly fell in love with Landtmann, the splendour of its lovingly preserved interior & the wonderful & attentive staff. & this was before tucking into our first round of the Austrian dining I wanted my husband to experience. We adored every morsel of food, from the traditional must have in Vienna, the Schnitzel to the Kalbsbutterschnitzel & Tafelspitz & Backhuhn… & that’s before even casting eyes on the incredible sweets & cakes & desserts like the famous Maroniblüte & the king of desserts… the Kaiserschmarrn. Did I mention they have at least 18 different coffees too? Mostly laced with enough booze to get rid of the chill once you have to step outside again. In short… we dined at Café Landtmann every night whilst in Vienna & considering my husband & I are both heavily tattooed & do turn heads in such a setting, we were made to feel at home. The service is impeccable, with the different echelons of staff being prompt & expert at their task, whether that be the white clad lads & lasses scurrying ice buckets & serving tables around all the way to the dapper Oberkellners with their attentive banter & offers of Schnapps. Yes you may have to queue to get a table, but I can assure you it is worth it & we encourage disgruntled fellow queue members to stay the distance because they would not be disappointed & none were. I have been trying to work out when we can next head to Vienna so that we can sit amidst the bustle in this historic café & sip our Champagne or Schlumberger Rose while stuffing our faces & hopefully it will be soon because Café Landtmann Ich liebe dich 💝💝 (& that’s not just because you gifted us a box of treats on our last night dining with you)More
We visited the Cafe for breakfast, before 10 am and there was no queue. A lot of tables were reserved, but we were led straight to our table even though we had no reservation. I would make a reservation if i was re-visiting. The service...was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Beautiful setting. I would strongly recommend a visit.More
The waiters suggest the mozart cake, it was not tasty at all... be careful!! The rest was great but relativly expensive
Historical beautiful cafe. Food was excellent, the best wiener schinitzel we had in Vienna. Vegetarian dishes were also excellent. Big portion. Large choice of cakes and cafes. Not cheap bit it worth a visit.
If there's one cafe I know I'm going to visit on any holiday I take to this most beautiful of city's it's Cafe Landtmann ,one of the most traditional cafe's in the city . I love the look of this cafe ,the interior is light...and airy ,high ceilings ,a cool looking serving bar ,opulent decor and furnishings and with lots of seating options both inside and outside and on our visit beautifully decked out for the Christmas period. We were here on a bitterly cold morning ,we were greeted and seated by a very pleasant member of staff ,we ordered coffee and cakes ,a short wait and our order arrived and what a treat . Coffee was really good ,from the first sip till the last sup you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve ,cakes we ordered were also superb ,so tasty ,totally delicious and made for a wonderful experience in an great cafe. We really enjoyed our coffee and cakes in here before we moved on and as on every other visit go here we had a great time. Cafe Landtmann is easy to locate along Universitatsring, opposite the magnificent Burgtheater . Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday,7.30am till midnight. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.More
We loved this traditional coffee house. It is one of the oldest in Vienna and very traditional with wait staff in tuxedos. We had lunch and the famous kaiserscharm for dessert. Service and food were excellent.
Centrally located by the town hall. Great selection of typical Austrian food, including a delicious apple strudel. We sat in a very nice glass conservatory and the service was good.
Not really satisfied by the sacher, I had higher expectations. Anyway, it is good, on average I would say. Spritz is strong, suggested.
We took a risk and didn't reserve a table but got lucky and they accommodated us. It was busy but service was fine, without any waiting. You're paying for the location and the ridiculously naughty cakes. We had the house speciality coffees with brandy -...which were rather nice on a cold day! Would advise advance booking as the queue as we left was rather long - but it is worth it.More
One of Vienna's great coffee houses, this has counted Freud as one of its past customers. It is tram-accessible being right on 'The Ring' near to the university. Leave your coat, pull up a chair and enjoy excellent coffee and pastries. The service is good...and the surroundings are congenial....although not quite as grand as some of the more central coffee houses. Light meals, patisserie and wines are available. The prices were no higher than similar cafes.More
Too much PR about the place for such mediocre service and food! Queus to get there - ok, but tables positioned the way there no privacy, neither comfort, you will not only hear what the others are saying but also have an impression they're seated...at your table. Food also not that tasty: I personally had so called spinach dumplings which were far away from dumplings (more of overcooked gnocchi). To add the service is so-so: when we first walked in and I wanted to check the menu first before I decide to wait in the queue for a table but the host told we should take our coats off. HmmMore
Yes! You have to…for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Often times, expect a long queue but do try to make a reservation. It is truly a remarkable experience with a very relaxed atmosphere. We received a very warm welcome and the staff was very helpful.
A beautiful venue for Sacher Torte and Coffee. Great service and stunning surroundings lavished with 150 years history. Opposite the stunning City Hall was a bonus.
