Based on a single visit comprising 3 dishes we agreed to top rate the restaurant, although those 5 stars in our opinion are used too often. The environment / decor is appealing, the service was fine and swift (but only 1 other couple dining that Thursday so the waitress had plenty of time to attend us), and the food was... More

Have visited this restaurant on a couple of occasions. The quality of the dishes has been mixed, the Tom Yum and Phad Thai were both very good, whilst the curries were more like stir fries than curries and had lots of filler ingredients like bamboo shoots. The restaurant is basic, but the service has been good. The location is a... More

My wife and I love Thai food....while travelling in Vienna, we craved a taste of Thai....We had no high expectations but were blown away with how good this place was....from the friendly service to the clean and inviting atmosphere and the fresh and tasty food topped off with a small glass of Thai snaps on the house. ...wonderful!

After my last, rather disappointing, Tripadvisor entries, i am more than happy to have eaten at "Thai Lotus" in Vienna! This will be a quick one: Absolutely great, authentic Thai food. The Tom Yam Kung soup was the best i had so far in Vienna (much better than the one in "Bangkok" Restaurant, though). Yam Nua, seafood-glasnoodle salad and Gaeng... More

This rather small non-smoking restaurant in one of the less chic areas of Vienna offers excellent Thai food, authentic and value for money, especially when you love fish. It's a true Thai family business: the female chef prepares all the dishes upon command only, which means that you can order the degree of spicyness to your taste (and even exchange... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
