After 10 day with cold cuts and wiener schnitzel in Austria we're craving for our home food so we started searching in tripadvisor for real Thai food in Austria, found a few and decided to give Kamala a try even though some review said the owner has quick temper and some love the food here. Kamala is a kiosk type... More

What the interior lacks the food and the great owner make up for it completely. Be prepared for real thai food that can be very spicy! 5 Stars, I'll be back for sure.

Very handy if you stay at the Mercure a few doors down as there is no restaurant or room service at the hotel. The staff and friendly and the food was just perfect in my hotel room while I worked.

This was the only restaurant that we could find in the area of our hotel and it was rated well by tripadvisor, so we decided to try it. Thai food is very common and popular in Toronto (Canada), so we are very familiar with it. The restaurant did not have an English menu and it also did not take any... More

We went to try this restaurant to be greeting by someone we presume was the owner/cook. He said "do you have a reservation?" - this was at nearly 2pm and the restaurant was empty! We said no. He said "outside!" in an extremely rude way. We gestured our surprise, given that it is a small local place and was empty.... More

Perfectly executed, and the owner loves to recommend and chat with clients. The decor is very basic; almost Spartan, but you won't care once you start eating! We tried the noodle soup, and the pad Thai. Both were great. Topped it with two small singhas, and it came to ~25 eur. Great value for money.

This is a small restaurant with a friendly ambience and waiter/possibly owner confirming that the recipes are original from his mom. The food was good and I would recommend visiting it.

We were searching for a new and authentic thai restaurant in Vienna for quite a while now...and have finally found it! :-) I ordered my favorite: Gaprau Gai (spicy chicken with thai basil). Awesome taste, fresh ingredients and it came with an egg on top, which is the really authentic way to have this dish in Thailand. My better half... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
