No frills restaurant situated opposite Flemings deluxe hotel. Excellent service to go with a great meal which I found to be good value.

What we have discovered over the years is that a little less polish means that they spend more time on quality. Marienhof falls in to that category in my opinion. We were looking for somewhere local to our hotel after a long long day. The trip advisor rating signalled this to be worth a visit. We love European local eateries,... More

This small restaurant (and not so easy to find - if you follow the map on Tripadvisor...use the street address instead(!)) is for me a genuine Vienna experience. Nice atmosphere, excellent and warm service (with a smile) and "local" food made this a very nice experience. I will be back! Highly recommended!

Stopped in based on other reviews. We had the schnitzel special and it was delicious. The accompanying boiled potatoes were great. As a note the mixed salad means it includes potatoes and shredded cabbage. Servers were friendly and spoke English.

Friendly & English speaking staff. Had the veal with melt in your mouth dumplings. Price was good and would definitely go back for another quaint meal.

Staff were very helpful and the food was just what this weary traveler needed. Delicious and fresh, staff were happy to recommend traditional favorites. We went two nights in a row! Very close to hotels etc. Apricot dumplings were AMAZING!!!👌🏻

This was across the street from my hotel. We strolled in and were seated in the rear courtyard. There was a lovely ambiance to the place. This is a place that serves excellent traditional Austrian dishes, I had the Schnitzul (which was huge) and my mum had the Gulash. Both portions were big and the food was very tasty. Thankfully... Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
