We queued for about 20 minutes to get in and then waited a while to be served, however we were in no rush and the waiter was very professional and the food very nice. But hot chocolate in a cheap milkshake glass? Lovely interior and not too expensive.

This cafe offers the perfect viennese afternoon combination, with an incredible atmosphere, monumental architecture and great Weiner Melange! However, depending on the time of day, you might have to wait a bit before being seated, as it is usually quite crowded. Anyway, it's a definite must for your stay in Vienna!

Located in central part of Wien, this cafe deserves the points. You can find different traditional desserts in the this patisserie. I have ordered an apfelstrudel with vanillia sauce and a cup of melange. Really enjoyed and liked it! It was delicious and fresh. In the evenings, also live classical music is played in this building and you can feel... More

One of the most historic cafes in Vienna, this should be on everyone's list of places to visit. The room is 19th century opulence and the cakes are out of this world. We visited in December and had to queue. I imagine it would be heaving in summer, but be patient, it is worth the wait!

You will surely wait outside a while before obtaining entry, but once you are inside you will be glad you stood in line. There is a reason for the queue at the door: this is a most beautiful place to enjoy a bite and some coffee. The cielings really do make the place unique. The food is good, and a... More

Every trip to Vienna should include at least one stop at a coffee house, and this is one of the more classic Vienese coffee houses. The pastries are amazing to look at (and eat), the setting is beautiful, and the services professional, prompt, and pleasant.

We went there wanting to check an historical place advertised during a guided tour and we ended up never wanting to leave the place :) We tried some of their cakes and some light food during the evening. Everything was delicious and the place looks amazing, you just can't stop taking pictures inside.

This lovely old cafe was like going back in a time warp to the 30's. Very ornate ceilings and great atmosphere. What first greats you is a manikin of Seigmund Freud sutting at a table. You can sence the days of some what you could say are some interesting former visitors to here which include Hitler and Stalin. You are... More

Historical place...Hitler and Stalin perhaps drank coffee in the same day elbow to elbow while Freud was looking at them ... Historical again.... coffee was average...in the best case.... For history nostalgics.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
