About
This famous traditional café with its 130 year history was first opened in 1876 and at the turn of the 20th century it was a popular meeting point for leading lights in the world of art, literature, politics and science such as Arthur Schnitzler, Sigmund Freud, Peter Altenberg and Leo Trotzki. Then, like today, the legendary literature café was a meeting point for all ages, regular guests, Viennese locals and visitors. Unique architecture combined with the best coffee specialties, classic Viennese cuisine and finest home-made pastries make every visit a special experience. Daily Live Piano Music from 5pm on! It's a shame that I went only once to visit this place but its really worth a several time visit. The cake is so delicious and the ambience with someone playing on the piano is magnificent.

Cafe Central in this beautiful city of Vienna is a definite ‘must visit’. You may have to queue briefly but it is definitely worth the wait. Exceptional staff, food and atmosphere.

We waited in a queue to be seated in the famous cafe central and they put us outside the main cafe in a cold patio. Although there were many empty tables in the main room and people were coming and going , they wouldn't change...us table. They didn't respect the simple fact that people from around the world come to have a coffee and a cake in this place and they stuff them at another place altogether. Other than that the coffee was terrible and the cakes without any real flavour.More

If you just want cakes and coffee then you can get more or less the same in lots of the cafes in Vienna but you wouldn’t get them in such a beautiful building so it’s worth the effort of waiting in the queue. We managed...to get in without having to wait…..just lucky I guess! A few times we walked past there were very long queues so Its probably best if you book then you can jump to the front.More

After years of visiting the place this time I was disappointed with both the food and the service we received. The fact that we had to wait in line for over half an hour in the cold of early November, without anyone thinking of offering...us maybe some water, clouded the impression right from the start. We sat down for coffee and cake and my impression was that the quality had dropped. That's not how I remembered the place. Too bad.More
