In the middle of a residential neighborhood, this is a very nicely decorated classic coffee shop offering great variety of dishes for breakfast and lunch. Coffee is excellent, good vegan food, burgers, etc. Service is friendly. Cakes are good but not as good as the ones you get in the famous establishment coffee shops. However, the atmosphere here is easy... More

Excellent coffee, heavenly desserts and a REAL TASTE of Viennese cafe. I found this cafe by chance - and fell in love with this place. In the morning they serve vegetable smoothies that are popular among the multiple patrons, almost as popular as coffee. The personnel are exemplary, all is clean and neat - in short, this is a respectable... More

Breakfast , lunch or dinner soak up the atmosphere. See waiters & waitresses dressed to period. Or sit read the morning papers with tea/coffee in cool surrounds! Casual dress so no formality needed but you could if you... More

Ideal to combine with a visit to the Belvedere Palace, because just 5-10 minutes walk to get to each. Try the home-made cakes there and a Viennese "Melange". Also the Vienna Hauptbahnhof (main train station) is close.

As I had some time to catch my train, I tried the Goldegg in Argentinierstrasse. It is a genuine Vienna coffeehouse. You can have breakfast, lunch and cakes. The Goldegg-burger is delicious. I will return on my next trip.

Staying in Wieden

Neighbourhood Profile
The fourth district combines elegant tradition with contemporary style and relaxed living. More than a dozen town palaces and churches such as St. Charles Borromeo have added glamour to a neighbourhood known for its traditional retail and crafts shops, taverns, cafés. Wieden is also home to Naschmarkt, Vienna’s largest street market. Many bohemian types have found their way to Wieden: meet them in trendy cafés and bars, shop alongside them for vintage items, enjoy Wien Museum’s and Kunsthalle’s modern temporary exhibitions, and hang out with the bees at Vienna’s most beautiful urban garden, Karlsgarten.
