Stayed at the Holiday Inn Vienna City and this place is close by. Pleasantly surprised by the authentic atmosphere, service and cooking. The goulash is my recommendation as are the soups.

Good food. Reasonably priced. The service was a bit slow but the staff was friendly. We did not understand when the bread basket was put in our table we would be charged for each roll we ate.

We stayed for a week near this restaurant and kept coming back. It looks a bit ordinary from the outside but you go through to a beautiful outdoor garden with huge trees. The tables are very well set and the ambience is very good. The service was excellent, helpful and friendly. The waiter suggested some local wines and explained the... More

This restaurant looks appealing from the outside and is just as nice inside. The food was exclellent, my potato and mushroom soup was delicious followed by an enormous plate of schnitzel with a side of potato salad, so much so that I couldn't even consider dessert. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the beer went down easily! I... More

Away from the crowded tourist areas, a haven of excellent Austrian food and drink. Very friendly welcome, excellent service. Perfectly prepared Zanderfilet and a mixed salad, enjoyed with a bottle of great Pinot Noir from Heinrich. A second dinner with venison was less impressive as it was too long in the oven and an advice if you have not grown... More

Five Star Austrian Food. Food was very good. Try their Schnitzels. Service is fast and friendly and most of the staff speak English and they even have English menus.

As I live in the area I do not usually write a review every time I eat out! But Waldviertlerhof has very much returned to its former glory and is now a firm favourite. The Schanigarten in summer is the best in the area - spaciously furnished. The menu is unashamed good Viennese cooking with a few nice and more... More

I had a lunch here on a warn sunny day. The terrace at the back of restaurant was really nice. The menu offered a good selections of choices although the English menu is much more limited(!!!!!). So if possible use the German menu. I had wiener schnitzel and complaints there. The service was friendly, but the waiters seemed to in... More

Staying in Margareten

Neighbourhood Profile
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
