We had a candle light dinner at the restaurant, the food was excellent and the wine too. As you see every course was beautifully and creatively garnished. Only that the waiters where not always present, when we entered the restaurant, we had to search for them.

The menu was at first a little confusing for a foreign visitor but once you had worked out that the dishes for starter and mains were going down the same page as they had been selected to compliment each other it was easy to follow, the Violet Carrot soup was delicious followed by the delightful Three Way Lamb which was... The food was excellent and the choise was good enough. The restaurant is part of the Novotel hotel. The restaurant is quite modern and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

This place has outdoor eating, but I chose to be indoors. The menu is interesting with a number of Austrian specialities. Were able to provide advice on dishes and on allergy concerns. Had an excellent gulash, followed by a selection of sorbets. Staff were appropriately attentive.

I went to this restaurant with an Austrian friend as it was very close to my hotel. I had something which is similar to tafelspitz (boiled beef with vegetables), a traditional Austrian dish, and it was excellent. Unfortunately, forgot the name, as it was written in German, but as I was explained it is the same as tafelspitz just from... More

I had a main dish and a desert. The main dish, two different kind of pork, was not bad, but a very small portion. Too small. And the desert was a cheese platter. The cheese had no taste, slices of cheese and something like brie. The price/quality was below standard.

I've been here for the first and for sure not last time. I had Daily Deal voucher and always on such ocassions I'm watching carefully if the restaurant team give me the feeling beeing "second-rate" guest. Afterwards I'm glad to say that at Five Senses it was not the case - from the beginning till the end we were very... More

I had a small lunch. The food was Ok but the service could be more attentive. The restaurant has a terrace allowing outdoor seating.

I've been in Vienna for five nights and went here on the fifth and final night. To put it into context the previous evenings I dined at Fig Muller, Plachutta, and Glacis Biesl. They were all better experiences than the one I had at Five Senses. The restaurant looks very nice and is well presented - be aware it's attached... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
