Went on a holiday Sunday for lunch -- as did most of Salzburg, it seems . . . Quaint historic Gasthaus atmosphere, absolutely humming with Trachten-appareled locals, so food must be good -- and it was. If you like this Austrian speciality, you'll love Schloss Aigen. Tender, succulent slices of beef served in its own broth with potato and carrot:... More

This restaurant is always worth a visit. Besides the traditional Austrian cuisine (Tafelspitz, Wiener Schnitzel) it offers great seasonal food. I had a chestnut soup with truffles-to die for- and a variation of game (venison, elk and pheasant with lentil, small dumplings and Brussel sprouts). All the other dishes on our table were fantastic. Service is excellent and room interior... More

It is a traditional Austrian Restaurant, nice location, many locals eating there; therefore must be appreciated by them. Ask for beaf speciality, it is very good. They have many good dishes, organic food. Salads are good too. Definitely a good place to eat in Salzburg.

We visited Schloss Aigen, very disappointing and very expensive. Not that great for what we spent! We also came here in the summer and listened to them pounding schnitzel all night from the garden tables. WAY too expensive for what you get and a bit of a trek outside of the city! !

Attended as part of a group. We had a set menu. Starters and salad were ok, main course - fish was very good. Fast service though obviously not personal when they were serving a group. Nice atmosphere of a traditional austrian tavern.

Nice, but in our time was the garden closed for a marriage-party. We could eating only in the room, but in this hot weather was better like the garden.

We made a reservation to his place taking a risk after reading some the reviews online. My husband had the gourmet set whilst I ordered off the main menu. The gourmet set we felt was average (the soup was extremely salty) whilst for my tafelspitz it tastes all right but what annoyed me was that if you wanted to drink... More

Positives: Excellent food, charming atmosphere, excellent service. Negatives: A little pricey, and smoking was allowed in the bar area. I would recommend asking for a table away from the bar area.

I've been here in june. The weather was perfect to sit outside. Schnitzel nicely done, good cold beer and the atmosphere is very calm.

We're foodies and love to spend extra on good food but the food here was outdated and tasteless. A decent place for guests with a very traditional palate but a higher end restaurant should offer more flavor. The potatoes were unsalted. The duck was dry I might as well have ordered turkey. Perhaps Wednesday is the chefs night off but... More
