I was visiting Salzburg with my wife and son's family for the Christmas market, and ended up here at the suggestion of my hotel. (Restaurant reservations during the market are very difficult - make reservations well in advanced!) The restaurant is at the north end of the old town, just outside the pedestrian zone. The restaurant is small but very... More

To Celebrate a friend's birthday we had lunch at Pan e Vin , food was very good , service truely friendly and the wine selection excellent. The friendly atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming , somehow it feels like having lunch at a friend house . Staff did not mind the fact that our lunch took longer than we... More

The place is nice BUT... They gave me the wrong dish and didn't care to replace it. At the end, when they saw that I haven't eaten, apologized but still charged for the whole meal. It's overpriced for the bad service...!

Had a very nice meal with a group of 10 prior to a concert. The food was well prepared and very enjoyable. Service was great as we were on a tight schedule.

Ok...I've got to admit I was skeptical when the hotel suggested Pan e Vin given the fairly lukewarm reviews but without a shadow of doubt this was outstanding Italian food, particular the pasta. I would highly recommend the white noodles with truffle and lobster. Don't be fooled by the small setting on the first floor. This is some seriously amazing... More

I was puzzled when our waiter asked whether I wanted one, two or three prawns with my penne pasta. I chose three. I discovered why he asked when our bill came - they charge 6 euros (plus tax) per prawn! That was not clear from the menu, although maybe I should have been able to figure out that p.p on... More

Place is a hole in the wall and difficult to find. Once inside, the service is extremely professional. Had a salad, pasta and dessert. Each of them had a distinct flavour and excellent presentation. The creme brûlée was out the the world. All in all, a great experience. Highly recommended if in Salzburg. A little on the expensive side.

pan e vin is a salzburg mainstay for after opera/concert dinner, especially during easter festival, when few places are open for late night dinner. when we went it was still quiet but filled up quickly; service was a little overwhelmed but tried its best. this is more than can be said about the slightly sleazy owner/manager who was unable to... We went to Pan e Vin after another restaurant we wanted to try was fully booked but we were very pleasantly surprised with the restaurant. It is upstairs above Hans W and was quite quiet on a Monday night. We ordered the duck, calamari, and some drinks from their extensive selection. While we were waiting for our mains the waiter...
