We received excellent service from the wait staff who helped us with our selections. Their assistance was excellent because our meals were delicious. We visited on a hot summer night and staff seated us and others outdoors. It was a great way to enjoy our...meals.More

Austrian couisine - Gulasch, Schnitzel, Apfelstrudel. Is that all you know? Then come to Krems and have a visit at the Salzstadl! A great variety of Austrian main dishes and so forth. And the waitors, the cook and the landlady are what you call an...original inhabitant. Busy, accurate and very friendly. And a special on that location ist the theatre upstairs. Almost weekly there are concerts promoted by the cultural club "That's Jazz" presenting young Austrian jazz musicians giving them a platform for performing in front of an audience.Awesome!More

I ate here while I stayed in town in October 2018. The food was good and I like the big country tables. I shared a table with several German-speaking women (I forgot whether they're Austrians or Germans). I speak no German. We communicated with some...English. I really enjoyed the family/country/village atmosphere. The servers were also very friendly.More

If you want rustic Austrian food at a great price then we would recommend here. We were very well looked after all evening, and there was a lovely atmosphere. We visited mid-week and out of season but we saw all the adverts for live music...so I imagine that they have a great atmosphere in livelier months. We enjoyed beef broth for starters, which was so tasty, and I followed this with lentils, bacon and dumplings, again, all very nice. My husband went for the classic schnitzel and the potato salad he had was out of this world! We finished with a well cooked Apple Strudel. The food and service were great, and the prices were great value! Definitely one to visit when in the lovely village of Stein.More

Fantastic beautiful and typical Austrian 'Gasthaus', with a local flair. The food and drinks are excellent and the service is friendly. If you are in Krems, enjoy the Salzstadl!

I ate twice at this restaurant while in Krems. The environment is very homey, with a piano and decorations that made me think of a small country inn. The food and wine were both outstanding; I had the schnitzel on my first visit which was...delicious, and on my return chose the goulash which was also very good. The local white wines are also excellent. During my second visit I was lucky enough to hear a jam session of local folk musicians which added to the atmosphere. I strongly recommend this place!More

The food is traditional Austrian food and I'd recommend the wine since this is a region of wonderful wine.
