My personal opinion is that it's an average restaurant. The food wasnt bad but not great. The ratio between food/service/ price is ok. You can find several fish/ seafood dishes.

We ate here almost every night. The food was excellent and the portions were extremely generous. The service was superb and very friendly. Joyce was an excellent hostess and welcomed us each evening. The tables were filled by 8pm and we booked on the last night only because we had a guest with us. A real must place to eat... More

Called in on a Monday night for supper. The rose wine was good (but no chiller) and grilled Bream was ok but not exceptional. The staff were friendly enough although but you can get better in the numerous restaurants in Marsaxlokk.

What I like about Matthew's and a few similar restaurant in M'Xlokk is that you can buy fish (whole fish like sea bass) for a fixed price rather than 'market price' which can mean paying up to eur50. When the price is displayed in the menu, fixed price, then one knows in advance what they're paying. Great fish soup, great... More

We came to Marsaxlokk as three friends one evening, we were staying in St Julian. What a difference!! Marsaxlokk is so peaceful and picturesque and we found this restaurant. The food is very good and all very local. It has been family run for 25 years as the female owner was telling us. She really gave it a personal touch,... More

I erroneously reviewed this restaurant last year. We actually visited another restaurant in Marsaxlokk and were planning to return this year. The other restaurant is now shut. However we *did* visit Matthew's this year and loved it! We had fresh Lampuki, omelette and penne pasta. All was beautifully cooked and the waitress very friendly. Look forward to going again.

Great food, good service, and a reasonable price considering the standard of the food, and such a relaxed atmosphere, can't wait to return.

Quite cosy restaurant owned and run by a family where every member of the family helps (a very nice kiddo came to bring our water :). We walked in rather hungry, my sister ordered a fresh fish (€11,50) which she really enjoyed and I got omelette (€6,50) which came with fries and a simple salad. Fine for the big hunger,... More

After spending the afternoon on the beach in Pretty Bay and skipping lunch we arrived in Marsaxlokk in the early evening as the restaurants along the quay were starting to prepare for evening service. We asked the lady by the door of Matthew's if they were open and she replied "We are a family restaurant, we are always open!". She... More
