Went there last week on a slow Monday evening. I've never felt so displeased and offended after a dining experience. First off, the service we received was shocking and not to be expected from what seemed like genuinely nice restaurant. The waiter barely spoke to...More

Really nice foods in glasses, tasting style. Small place, great atmosphere and friendly waiters. I’d come back any time.

Best tapas I have ever had, food was quick and tasted amazing. Served in lovely little jars you got just the right amount of food. Great to share or keep to yourself. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Happened across this place by chance and we weren't sure if it would be any good as it was quiet, but we were pleasantly surprised. Server was a little stand-offish however he was helpful in recommending suitable meals, and honest about which dishes he personally...More

We found this restaurant by accident while wandering for some lunch - an icelandic tapas bar serving a variety of Icelandic (and non-Icelandic) dishes. Well priced as I remember, especially cheap for Reykjavik! The portion sizes are very small (jar sized), so our only drawback...More

Tried this place one night for dinner. Tapas served in jars which was something different. Cosy little even use and reasonably priced for Iceland. Good attentive service and food was very good. Great selection of local foods. Really enjoyed each jar.

Went there with my girlfriend and another couple and we had 6 jars each and at first I was doubtful I would be full after six jars but they were more than enough. We had over 20 different courses and each and everyone of them...More

Tasty tapas style food served in jars. A wide variety of jars available. Not big servings so quite a few jars are required. As a consequence, the meal becomes a bit expensive for the quality. Still, overall a reasonable experience and I would go back...More

Probably our favourite meal eaten in Reykjavik. Prices are reasonable (for Reykjavik) and the tapas were tasty. The vegetarian selection is excellent. The layout is a little cramped but worth if for the food. Would recommend.

We stumbled across this little restaurant one evening. Tapas served in jars and everything we had was very tasty. Good beer on tap too! Good choice for vegetarians too. Adjoining bar - bar ananas-looked fun but we didn't go in as had kids with us.

Don't know if you can book in advance, but it wasn't busy when we were there as I believe it is new.

SmakkBarinn is a cozy restaurant in the heart of the city. SmakkBarinn focuses on small dishes presented in beautiful jars. If you are looking for some new taste in Iceland make a trip to SmakkBarinn. We are open 17:00 - 23:00, at noon you can either enjoy a light lunch or start a nice evening by getting a few selective meals and washed it down with a cold bear. The restaurant is small and cozy and often formed a pleasant atmosphere at night.
