Great service and interesting dishes. I had the Luxury Platter and 2 snafs as recommended. Note:The Norwegian Aquavit is very potent. Anyway, the food was great and we floated back to the hotel...full to the brim.

Mid afternoon stop for coffee and Danish open sandwich. Had the hangover beef and the salmon and avocado. Both excellent, very tasty.

I studied in Copenhagen, Denmark for a semester, and I really got to love Danish food. It is hard to find good Danish food in the U.S., so I was thrilled to find Jomfruin on a recent visit to Iceland. I chose to order the...More

We walked in without a reservation, and were told the tables were all booked up until after Christmas, but we could sit at the bar. And the place was packed! A lively, friendly place, looked mostly like locals, and really had a nice vibe. We...More

We shared a platter with many different types of herring. If you like picked herring, Danish style, this place is a must.

I was raised in a Danish family and I know Smorrebrod. This was the best roast beef I have ever had. We also had a shot of akavit which was fun. The only thing I missed was some pastry, maybe krunzekage or wienerbord. However, if...More

This is a fun place for lunch with the locals! The open face sandwiches are huge. Two of us ordered four different half sandwiches and they were fantastic! The selection of Aquavit is unrivaled and it's sold in different sizes and also according to how...More

The signiature dish at this place is the pork. If you like pork try it. It is perfectly cooked on the inside and has a hard sligthly too salty crust. When enjoyed with the potatoes and sause that comes with it is just right. Dessert...More

Welcome to Jómfrúin, the home of Danish smørrebrød in Iceland. It all began in 1888 with Oscars Davidsen’s highly praised smørrebrød restaurant in Copenhagen. Today, in Reykjavík, "Jómfrúin" stands for the best in Danish smørrebrød. An unbroken tradition of quality and Danish culinary culture for the past 100 years. Essentially an open-faced sandwich usually featuring rye sourdough bread, smørrebrød presents different combinations of seafood, meat, vegetables and condiments, and is typically enjoyed with a cold local beer and snaps (aquavit). Enjoy!
