We tasted almost the menu trough with different taste of food. Two children, they chose mostly by children's list.
Only disappointment was the wine (two different by glass) and the stressed atmosphere, maybe corona affected
Brahen Kellari(=Cellar) is restaurant icon in Turku, founded 1967. Location is real central and interior cozy. We had a business dinner here and had high expectations, because during Covid-19, there hasn't been that many dinners. Our waitress was friendly and on a (semi)quiet Thursday evening,...service was fast. I started with creamy, smoked reindeer soup and continued with panfried Scampi, which was real delicious. Not the cheapest place in Turku, but well worth itMore
Lunch with friends. Our special requests (due to allergies) were duly noted and prepared fast outside the normal lunch buffet. The buffet itself was good. Breaded fish was too soft - not an ideal dish for buffet. Minced meat mini-steaks were really well seasoned and...fried. Salad table was fresh. On a cold, windy day it was nice to eat in a cozy cellar.More
On early Friday evening there were already plenty of customers. We ordered gratinated snails with roquefort cheese and toast skagen as starters, they were quite ok. After that all three of us had grilled fillet of roe deer, which was perfect medium, tender and tasty;...potatoes and vegetables were also good. Sauvignon blanc and malbec wines were good, too. The service was ok, although the waitress was a bit hasty.More
We reseaved a room for 5 people there. It's a cozy and nice room (I notice most turku restarants have only bigger rooms starting from 15-20 people). Their food is tasty and service is good though some people in other rooms were sometimes quite noisy...
This restaurant from 1967 is the oldest cellar restaurant in Turku. After the musical, we had dinner here.
The food was delicious. It was a pity that the house wine was awful, both white and red.
The service was friendly and efficient.More

Thank you for your nice comments. We feel sorry that your perception about our very high quality House Wines were awful. Both wines are hand picked from small producers and are nothing but bulk wine from Bordeaux, France and Sienna region Chianti, Italy.
This atmospheric restaurant might be overlooked because it is ”hidden away” in a cellar on the side of the pedestrian street of Yliopistonkatu, but the restaurant has been around for long and I can absolutely understand why. The food is sooo delicious and nicely presented.
